Jim Chavez is Command Performance's President. He has nearly forty years of experience in civil construction operations and management, including 15 years as head of CPC. In 1972 he began as an apprentice to his father, who was an expert paving and concrete contractor. From 1972 to 1975 Mr. Chavez underwent intense field training in horizontal construction, and to this day he requires all employees to develop an understanding of on-site operations. Prior to starting his own company, Mr. Chavez worked as an estimator, salesman, and superintendent for companies such as Sun Paving and Vernon Paving. He was instrumental in building a new private construction division for Vernon, which had traditionally focused on the public works market, and he decided to form his own venture, Ja-Mar Engineering, in 1983.
During his time as "Commander in Charge" at CPC Mr. Chavez has transformed a small, concrete contracting business into a diversified provider of turnkey horizontal construction services. He has also been the driving force in launching the company's general construction business and federal contracting division. Jim holds an A-General Engineering license and is a certified Quality Control Manager (USACE).
Outside of work Mr. Chavez is involved with his local parish at St. Barhtolomew Catholic Church and volunteers for New Life Beginnings in Long Beach, CA. He supports those who champion free-market principles and who search for sound, market-based solutions that contribute to the betterment of society. As a business owner, he understands that CPC's success hinges on his ability to effectively satisfy customers. In his words, "we must continually stay ahead of the latest industry trends and find better ways to meet our clients needs."
