Cliff Layman's Bio
Cliff Layman started his career in the late 1970’s with Sheet Metal Worker’s Local 101, which started his interest in historic roofing and restoration. In the 1980’s, he was one of the last members of the Slater’s Union in Washington, DC before it disbanded. In 1990 he formed Historic Roofing Company. He has extensive experience in slate, copper, wood and metal roofing. Many of his projects are listed on the National Historic Register and Maryland’s Historical Trust. Cliff’s career spans over 40 years in Historic Roofing and Restoration. His dedication to this lost art is a testament to his work.
