John Martin is safety director for Michels Construction. His responsibilities include the overall training and safety of employees on the job sites. This includes job site safety inspections, maintenance of CDL/DOT qualifications, workers compensation reporting and investigation, and accident reporting and investigation. He has been a Kentucky Professional Firefighter/EMT for 18 years. He has been with the Covington, Kentucky Fire Department for 15 years and currently serves as Battalion Chief. He is a state certified fire instructor, fire and life safety inspector. He is OSHA 10/ 30 hr construction certified and is a certified trainer in basic work zone/flagging. Additionally, he provides training in the following areas: confined space and permit required confined spaces, excavations, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, ventilation, and fall protection.

Ron Becker is risk manager for Michels Construction. His primary duties include development and revision of policies and safety plans, accident and near-miss investigations, environmental safety, and sub-contractor liability management. Becker is a 35-year veteran of the fire service, having served in practically all capacities (inspector, fire investigator, volunteer fire chief, and is currently a training officer/fire instructor). He joined Michels Construction in the Safety Department in 2005.
