The Diocese of Cleveland Facilities Services Corporation has had the pleasure of working
with John G. Johnson Construction Co. as general contractor for several projects
including the new construction of a $10 million residential special treatment facility for
youth, the new construction of a $4.5 million senior apartment building and many
smaller renovation projects. From bidding to pre-construction to regular weekly
construction meetings, John G. Johnson has been an excellent partner work with. They
specialize in exceptional value engineering ideas that have made our budgets workable.
The staff, specifically Vice President Mike Weber, Project Manager Matt Large and
superintendents Bob Kuhar and Brett Wasson have done an excellent job of
communicating and more importantly, problem solving. They have succeeded in only
bringing problems to our attention with low or no cost solutions readily available. This
as an owner is of the utmost importance.
Their attention to detail and understanding of our projects has made us quite
comfortable working with them. We would certainly hope to work with John G. Johnson
again in the future and have no reservations in strongly recommending them as General
Contractors.
Braun & Steidl Architects has worked with John G. Johnson on multiple projects, with most recently being the Lexi-Comp addition and site improvements in Hudson, Ohio. Throughout the process, Marty Weber and his staff were always there for the client and their needs as well as being able to respond to construction issues and sequencing in a timely manner to our office during the construction.

Their insistence upon quality work ensured that the projects are done well and that everyone at John G. Johnson takes a personal role and effort during the entire process. During the project duration, on a regular basis, John G. Johnson kept the owner aware of schedule coordination and sequence, cost changes, and effectively communicated with the owner on issues relating to working in an occupied building.

As Director of Real Estate and Legal Services for the Diocese of Cleveland Finance/Legal Office for the past three years I have had occasion to deal with many contractors on many different Diocesan and Parish construction projects. Given the nature of such charitable, nonprofit institutions it has always been a priority of my office to ensure that skilled and dependable contractors are chosen and utilized on any building project, whether it involves a small addition to an existing school building or an entirely new worship space for a growing congregation.
In light of this, it is not surprising that over the course of time certain contractors are able to build a reputation for reliability and quality. John G. Johnson Construction Company is just such a company. Indeed, of the many contractors with whom I have dealt, there are only a small handful of contractors that I believe are as professional and capable as John G. Johnson. In particular, I have always been impressed with the accessibility and helpfulness of John G. Johnson's President, Louis Weber. His commitment to service and quality are unmatched.
I have worked on nine building projects for different schools and churches over the last decade and Johnson has simply been the best.
It is rare to find a company that is so committed to their work, provides quality people and is so easy to communicate with, even if there are difficult or intricate concerns.
When Johnson won the bid to construct a new 25,000 square foot addition, I was excited to work with them because I had heard such good things about their work ethic. They proved to be true, particularly in the case of Marty Weber, the representative, and Doug Stevens, the on-site manager. They were complemented by Serge Greiner and all three are make-it-happen/what-can-we-do-to-help kind of gentlemen. They were always accessible and presented several money-saving ideas, including designing and constructing a unique 40' cupola for the roof of our new chapel that even the architect was unsure how to complete. As the crane lowered the piece into place, there were Doug and Serge on the roof literally overseeing every part of this difficult installation.
As the building was completed---on time and under budget!!!---and we had our grand opening, Johnson was there and now six months later, they have continued to support the school and answer any all questions. They have continually come to ensure that all is well and that any minor problems have been quickly and appropriately handled.
I cannot give John G. Johnson a higher recommendation for their work at Central Catholic from the beginning of the project through its completion.

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation on behalf of John G. Johnson Construction who served as our General Contractor for the construction of our new worship space, community room and related facilities. One of the highest compliments that you can pay to any company that you work with is whether you would rehire them to do another project. I can honestly say that I would hire JGJ again without hesitation.
JGJ consistently demonstrated their commitment to the success of our project by their impeccable attention to detail during all phases, which included schedules, quality control, budgeting, and particularly open communication. JGJ provided constant and timely communication along the way that proved to be very effective in getting decisions made. They worked well with all members of the team from diocesan representatives, parish and school staff members, architects to the many subcontractors.
We were particularly impressed with JGJ in the preconstruction phase. The flow of the project was well planned out and very effective in construction cost savings as well. For example, by pre-planning, the company was able to order the required steel prior to the costs rising which resulted in a beneficial savings for our parish.
In working on a parish level, JGJ faced many challenges specific to the day-to-day activities of a church community. The were very accommodating and respectful when it came to daily Masses, funerals, sacramental programs and our large parish school. The safety of our students and parishioners was a top priority during construction.

Our firm has had the pleasure of working with John G. Johnson over the past year on two critical projects with tremendous success.
The initial project consisted of renovating nearly 125,000 SF of common area space and corridors in a fully occupied senior living facility. The second project ran concurrently and consisted of a full renovation of 150 independent and assisted living suites. These areas needed to remain fully operational during construction and their creative approach and thought process was vital to both projects being completed under budget and ahead of schedule.
