More About America's Phone Guys:

America's Phone Guys started out selling small businesses analog and digital phone equipment in 2001. We have evolved to mostly Cloud and VoIP (that's Voice over Internet Protocol) hosted phones and phone service. We do still sell digital systems and hybrid IP telephone systems when that is what best works for a customer. VoIP offers flexibility and some fantastic features, but it isn't a fit for all companies. The advantages to VoIP are things like saving money on your monthly phone service (think Comcast/CenturyLink/Spectrum etc. only better, more flexible and for less), being able to easily redirect your calls in the event of an Internet or power outage, having more control of your telecommunications, and saving money on equipment. Plus in these current days of the Covid-19, VoIP is one of the best solutions for remote working.

The majority of our clients are small businesses, with between three and 300 phones. We also do a lot of work with and for Property Management Companies in the Portland Metro areas.  We work with clients who need between 3 and 500 phone lines, whether these are all at one location or multiple sites. If we don't have the right solution for your company, we will let you know what your best options may be, even if they aren't options we can provide. If we can't help, we probably know of a company that can.

Why doesn't everyone go with VoIP? Those without steady Internet connections can be frustrated by it, and some who are used to traditional phones and how they work can find VoIP phones challenging. If you prefer "line appearances" on your phone and a call on each one of those, parking calls & picking them up when you can't see what line they are on may not be for you. It's not for everyone but, is usually a pretty easy transition. Keep in mind that you can still use VoIP phone lines with a more traditional phone system, those lines are called SIP trunks.

Something to beware of is IT people & copier guys trying to sell you VoIP. You need a company that knows about all things telecommunications for something as crucial to your business. We get many calls from folks who have tried one VoIP carrier or another and ended up being frustrated. We can help! We can connect you with the right carrier and get your telephones and related equipment up and running precisely as you need. Then you can determine how little or how much of our help you want going forward. VoIP can cause businesses massive headaches and even lost business if not correctly implemented. We are the VoIP experts in Portland and Southwest Washington and want to help your business save money, time, and, most of all, frustration! We offer service levels from Do-It-Yourself Free Installations all the way through Don't Even Lift a Finger White Glove! And we will never try to sell you a photocopier or a network server! Most plans we offer these days include free remote support (minimum 3-year contract required.)

America’s Phone Guys mission is to provide technology solutions with INTEGRITY. We strive to provide top-notch customer service that makes us a leader in the industry. If you ever find our customer service lacking, please let us know. We want to be an example of what excellent customer service should be and are always looking at how to improve.

Caleb & Lois Cook run America's Phone Guys.  Caleb handles sales and manages the technical staff while Lois handles most of the rest of the operation. They are members of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), for which Lois is the Vice-Chair of the Leadership Council for the state of Washington. Lois also has been volunteering since 2012 for the Children's Cancer Association serving as a Chemo Pal Mentor to children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Her fourth Chemo Pal just graduated from his treatment plan and as with each of the others, is doing very well and growing like a weed now that he isn't receiving chemotherapy. Lois is currently awaiting her next Chemo Pal assignment. Lastly, Lois was appointed to a 2-year term in 2018 to the newly formed Business Advisory Council for the Washington State Department of Revenue and does her best to help with the formulation and implementation of rules that include the needs of small businesses.

Our office has helpful, friendly people ready to take your calls and do their best to help. Rebecca will most frequently take your calls and make sure to get you connected to the answers you need. Rebecca also works as a Remote Technician for some of our VoIP Clients. She handles nearly everything you might need as well as coordinating VoIP Phone Service for new customers and helping with the phone number porting process. Dana is our Customer Service Advocate, who will handle a lot of our administrative functions and dispatch the service orders that come in through our web portal and email.

Our primary focus at America’s Phone Guys is to provide the best value possible with fair prices and excellent service. Our staff is always willing to look for a solution to all of your business communication needs. If we can’t work on your particular phone system, we will do our best to find you someone who can. We maintain a list in our office of which local companies work on the various brands of telephone systems, so we are ready to point you in the right direction in cases where we are unable to help. We know how frustrating it can be to find the right company to help when you hardly understand telecommunications.

We consider our team a family, and we often have customers become friends. We treat others with honesty, fairness, integrity, and loyalty. Do unto others as they say! We strive to do upon them one step further these days, though, which is as our customers wish, not just as we want. We may not always figure that out right away, but we will do our very best to do so as expediently as possible.

America’s Phone Guys sell many of today’s top-rated business telephone equipment. Our main product lines have been Panasonic, Allworx & keeping old Avaya Partner and Toshiba systems going for a while now. We’re also selling several VoIP, SIP, and Hosted solutions from Polycom, Cisco, Snom, Yealink, and Panasonic, among others. And if you need an inexpensive VoIP Phone Service option, we can provide that too. In the past, we’ve also sold Vodavi (aka Vertical), Samsung, and NEC DSX systems. We do provide service to customers with those systems as well. If we haven’t listed your system type, it doesn't mean that we can’t work on it, there are far too many brands and models to list, so, if you don’t see your particular brand, call us! If we can’t help you, we will provide the phone number for a company that can.

Our service area covers most points in the Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington region. We cover from Hillsboro to Troutdale, down through Wilsonville and up to Longview, including most points in between. If we can’t service your area, we will do our best to help you find a company that can. We also service the coast (Astoria, Warrenton, Long Beach, etc…) nowadays. Customers in those areas seem to have difficulty finding reliable telecommunications contractors, so we do what we can for them.

We look forward to serving more coastal businesses in the future.  As most systems can be supported remotely now, this becomes easier and more reasonable for companies that may not be right in our back yard.

Nearly all the systems we install these days can be programmed remotely. That saves our customers money and time. Rates for remote service work are subject to a 1/2-hour minimum only, and of course, there are no trip charges. Most on-site work is subject to a one-hour minimum and a trip charge that depends on your location. Emergency and Before or After-hours service work is subject to a 2-hour minimum.

Are you interested in knowing which VoIP carriers we utilize? We've found we can meet most of what our customers are looking for and do so reliably and with fair pricing and excellent customer support. We have our own APG VoIP service as well and also work with Nextiva, Jive, Net2Phone, and 8x8. We've tried several other carriers in the past, and know a little something about most. We had our own terrible experience with Vonage way back in the earliest days of VoIP and learned the hard way what to do and what not to do. We've also converted lots of customers from Ring Central, Vonage, and Ooma when those weren't working well. Even though those customers started being worried VoIP wouldn't work for them, we've been able to convince them by providing reliable service. We've been through most everything with VoIP and are ready to get you started and benefiting from all of our learning experiences.

You can also see & hear more about our story as a small business dealing with overburdensome regulations here:  We do everything we can to advocate for small business and particularly telecom related issues. If you know of an opportunity for us in this arena, please let us know.
