Dan Smith's Bio
Dan joined New South in 1993 and is the firm’s chief financial officer. As the CFO, he leads all facets of the financial, accounting, and administrative functions. In 2009, Dan played an instrumental role in establishing the New South Foundation, which is an approved 501(c)(3) organization providing scholarships and annual giving to more than 50 local charities and community service projects. Since the Foundation’s inception, Dan has continued to oversee and expand its reach.
Within the industry, Dan has been involved with the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia since 2014, having served on the board of directors and currently serving as the chairman of the board. Additionally, he has been an active member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) since 1999 where he currently serves on the legislative committee. Dan has been a devoted member of Lost Mountain Baptist Church since 2000 and is on the leadership board. When he is not in the office, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. Dan received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Tennessee Wesleyan University (formerly Tennessee Wesleyan College).
Dan’s advice to someone looking to be in the construction industry: “Listen and learn. Engage and apply yourself to learn about an area of the business you are not familiar with. You will gain a better understanding of the overall business.”
Doug Davidson's Bio
Doug founded New South Construction Company in 1990 and began performing construction services for clients like Delta Air Lines and The Coca-Cola Company. Now, almost 30 years later, New South is still providing construction services for those same Fortune 500 companies. Whether working with large companies or small, New South always infuses its strong values into each relationship, a practice Doug has instilled into New South’s core values.
Doug has held numerous community and industry leadership positions, both nationally and locally, during his tenure at New South Construction, including serving on the board of the Georgia Branch of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) since 1998. He is a past president of AGC’s Board of Directors, and currently serves on the board of the National Association of General Contractors. He is an active board member for the Atlanta Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Atlanta Rotary Club. Over the last several years, Doug has worked to promote the construction industry as a viable career path by supporting construction training programs and job placement of work-ready people through the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA). Still active with CEFGA, Doug is a past president and current advisory board member. He is also on the Clemson University student affairs executive council, where both of his children attended college. Additional recent board positions have included the Georgia Board of Regents’ Facility Advisory Board as well as board positions at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta and Sheltering Arms.
In 2009, Doug was nominated by the Atlanta Chapter of the Professional Estimators Association of America to receive the 18th Golden Hammer Award. He was selected for always holding himself and New South to the highest standards, building in a short period of time one of the most respected companies in the Southeast, and giving his time and talents to the community and industry.
When Doug isn’t in the office, you can find him spending time with his son and daughter, golfing, running, and enjoying the outdoors. Doug attended Auburn University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in building construction.
Huntly Gordon's Bio
Huntly joined New South in 1991 and is the firm’s president. Huntly oversees New South’s business units by promoting the growth of the company and ensuring quality projects. In his spare time, Huntly enjoys surfing, fishing, and kayaking along the Florida coast with his family. Huntly attended the University of Florida where he went to the undergraduate school of architecture and graduate school for building sciences.

Rob Ragan's Bio
Rob has been with New South since 1997 and is a vice president. He is an active member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Georgia, the Georgia Sheriff’s and Municipal Associations, as well as the Association of State Facility Administrators. On a local level, Rob is active with the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), the Coweta County Recreation Department, and the Cobb and Coweta Chambers. Additionally, he works with the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia to promote the construction industry and work-ready individuals. Rob is a devoted member of Crossroads Church and enjoys spending his free time with his family, playing golf, and cheering for the Auburn Tigers. Rob received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of West Georgia.

Louis Simpson's Bio
Louis has been in the construction industry for 15 years and is a vice president of preconstruction at New South. He enjoys spending time with his wife, two children and friends, attending sporting events, and grilling on his Big Green Egg. Louis attended the University of North Florida where he earned his degree in building construction management.

Rob Dunn 's Bio
Rob joined New South in 1994 and is an executive vice president, overseeing operations. Actively involved with the Associated General Contractors (AGC) since 2002, he has served as a council member, vice chair, and chair of AGC’s Young Leadership Program, and currently he serves on the board of AGC Georgia. Additionally, Rob is a member and volunteer at Glen Haven Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoys being at the lake with his family as well as buying, selling, and riding ATVs, motorcycles, cars, and tractors. Rob attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received his degree in building construction.

Scott Sullivan's Bio
Scott has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry and is a senior project manager at New South. When he is not at work, Scott enjoys coaching baseball and spending time with his wife and their five children. Scott received his bachelor’s degree in building construction and development from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Greg Schlich 's Bio
Greg joined New South in 2011 and is the executive vice president of finance and administration. In his role, Greg oversees New South’s risk management, safety, IT, accounting, legal, VDC, and HR departments. In his spare time, Greg can be found exploring Atlanta or coaching his kids’ sports teams. He received his bachelor’s degree in risk management and his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia.
Greg’s advice to someone looking to be in the construction industry: “Ask why, even if you know the answer. Take notes, even if you think you will remember. Be passionate about building, and be proud of this diverse and impactful industry.”
