Our Story
About the New South Foundation. The New South Foundation has been in existence since 2009 and is an approved 501(c) (3) organization. Through generous donations, the Foundation has been involved in and supported over 50 charities/community service projects since inception. Another important mission of the Foundation is to provide scholarships to undergraduate college students. This past year, the Foundation awarded 5 scholarships to deserving students. It is a priority to make these scholarships available to families in the construction industry.
New Scholarship EnhancementThe New South Foundation is pleased to announce an enhancement to our scholarship program. The purpose of the enhancement is to extend the opportunity for the scholarship recipient to receive ongoing financial aid from the Foundation, and to establish a more supportive relationship with the student(s) throughout their college career. While our previous program was both beneficial and satisfying, and achieved the Foundation’s goals of supporting students financially for a semester, the new goal is to support a student’s scholastic finances even longer through their senior year in college. These changes are effective this academic calendar year.
Opportunities for ScholarshipsIt is New South Foundations’ priority to make these scholarships available to families in the construction industry who take education seriously, excel academically and participate in extracurricular activities, on and off campus. Under the implementation of the new program, the New South Foundation will award up to 3 scholarships per year, and spread the financial aid of the scholarship over a 2 to 4-year period per student on a yearly basis, until the academic year that the scholarship recipient graduates. The new scholarship award will be capped at $5000. With implementation of the new program, disbursement of the scholarship award will be determined by the academic level of the student and the length of time until graduation. Below is representation of how scholarship awards will be disbursed: Rising Freshman – receives $1250 x 4 years ; Rising Sophomore – receives $2000 first year, $1500 x 2 years ; Rising Junior – receives $2500 x 2 years.
