Adam Chelini's Bio
Adam is responsible for the oversight and management of Skyline’s North Bay projects and teams. He maintains client relationships, oversees field personnel, monitors jobsite safety and ensures that each project team runs successful projects for our clients.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Adam’s career in construction started long before he decided to pursue construction management at Chico State. Throughout high school, he worked with his father in construction as a carpenter. At the time, he did not intend for that job to turn into a career: “I was studying marine biology,” Adam said. “It wasn’t until I saw a buddy of mine going to Cal Poly for Construction Management that it finally clicked. I gave Chico State a call and was enrolled two weeks later.”
HOW HE LANDED AT SKYLINE
Adam found Skyline while working for another general contractor in the area. He knew Skyline would be a good fit after learning the strategy and vision that CEO David Hayes had in place. Adam joined Skyline in 2002 as a Sr. Project Manager. Through the years he has grown and developed a highly successful team of construction professionals who are equipped to build sophisticated, complex and large-scale corporate interiors.
MANAGEMENT STYLE
Adam teaches the full spectrum of construction and wants each employee to have a well-rounded understanding of construction principles: “I like to teach them the ‘why’ and not just the ‘how.’” He is especially skilled with project financials and scheduling, and trains his employees to think through every detail in the preconstruction phase of the project to ensure success during construction.
Ali Bedwell's Bio
Ali leads the Branding and Marketing team and is responsible for Skyline’s branding policies, objectives and initiatives, including market positioning, corporate messaging, visual presence, digital channels, and feedback and listening tools.
HER BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Ali has been a tremendous asset to Skyline since 2007. She graduated from UC Davis with degrees in both interior and graphic design, and worked as a graphic designer in the A/E/C industry prior to joining Skyline. Ali has guided Skyline through a full brand overhaul, developing a consistent, cohesive and memorable brand presence in the Bay Area construction industry. She is creative and process oriented, driven to create efficiency and streamline work while using data to identify possible solutions.
HER MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY
Ali believes in team collaboration, coaching from the trenches, and rolling up her sleeves to get down and dirty with her team. She subscribes to the notion that internal communication strategies are even more important than external brand awareness. Ali focuses much of her efforts equipping the Skyline team with the technology, tools and messages to work efficiently, speak confidently and act as owners of the firm.
HER INTERESTS AND HOBBIES
Ali is an avid traveler, coming from a family of travel agents, and she lived in Dublin, Ireland after graduating from college. She loves to ski so much that she skied “down the aisle” during her wedding ceremony--in full gown. She spends her weekends exploring Northern California with her husband, son and labradoodle.
David Hayes's Bio
David joined Skyline in 1996 as a partner, leading the sales and business development effort. In 2005, he assumed the role of CEO and restructured Skyline into a 100% employee-owned company, which changed the direction and future of the organization. As CEO, David is responsible for driving firm wide growth as a national commercial real estate and construction services platform with a vision of representation in every major city within the US, all operating under a people-first mentality. He leads business expansion through acquisitions, implements long and short term plans for growth, provides executive leadership and works closely the firm’s board of directors.
HIS BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Before joining Skyline, David admired the construction industry from a distance through his participation in BOMA and his work with local general contractors as a vendor: “I noticed that people in the construction industry seemed to be having a lot of fun, while doing some really large projects in marquee high-rise locations,” said David, “so when I was approached by the former founders of Skyline to join them as a partner, I was excited about the opportunity to enter this business.”
HIS MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY
As a former collegiate athlete, David believes that leading an organization draws many similarities to playing team sports: “I always wore the captain's “C” on my jersey, and it came with great responsibility. I have the same mentality towards business -- no task or job is too small or too big. My goal is to always help the team move the ball forward. I hope the lessons I teach are of persistence, humility, focus and communication, coupled with a genuine desire to learn and get better. All of which results in personal and professional success.”
HIS INTERESTS AND HIDDEN TALENTS
David is respected as a skilled businessman, leader and innovator, but if you ask him what his true talents are, he says it's his ability to spin plates and create parody versions of popular songs — skills he crafted during his down time while waiting tables in college.
Outside of work David likes to ski, watch hockey play golf and travel the world with his wife and kids: “Being an immigrant from Europe, I have family all over the world, which makes for fun travel experiences.”

As an ESOP expert, Jessica truly understands the unique challenges faced by ESOP companies. She focuses her efforts on improving corporate governance, putting in better controls, raising the expectations of the board and ensuring decision-making is done in the best interest of shareholders.
Jessica has worked diligently to pave the way for female leadership at Skyline. During her tenure, she has helped promote five women onto the leadership team, brought talented women from outside the industry into construction, and continually mentors women within the organization to accept leadership level responsibility. She is committed to conducting business with the highest standards of integrity and strives to uphold Skyline’s core values by living Skyline’s mission — building better together, for employees, clients, stockholders, partners and communities. She spearheaded the development of the Building America Challenge (BAC), an initiative that encourages sourcing American-made materials for construction projects: "My first BAC project was the proudest accomplishment of my career to date. I'm blown away that just one of my projects could create four U.S. manufacturing jobs." Jessica was recently honored for her achievements with BAC and named one of the 40-under-40 rising stars of the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times.
HER MANAGEMENT STYLE
As Project Executive, Jessica leads and mentors a team of construction professionals to build exquisite spaces for her clients, while building her network at the same time. Jessica compares her management style to the game of curling, with the employee as the rock traveling down the ice of their career path. Her job as a manager is to be the sweeper with the broom, providing guidance and removing obstacles so that they can pick up momentum and reach their goals. Her day-to-day management style is inspired by her own experience moving into different positions: "I try to recreate the positive experiences for the people I work with and avoid situations that I recall from different points in my career. My communication style with employees is honest and direct, with hint of sarcasm and humor."
