Caulkins Construction Company's President, Rodney D. Caulkins completed his Carpenter's Apprenticeship through the Carpenters & Joiners of America Apprenticeship School in Houston, Texas. He moved to the Washington DC area in 1987 and has never looked back.
As an active collaborator with subcontractors and clients, Rod runs the day-to-day operations of the company. He has more than 30 years of building experience and project management with residential, commercial, senior-living community and critical care projects. He loves challenges and the feeling of success when overcoming them.
He is a big advocate of Adult Education. When he received his GED at age 46, he not only removed the stigma he felt for not finishing high school, but also felt empowered to become involved in his community. He gives back by providing an annual scholarship that pays GED® testing fees. Rodney was appointed by the Virginia Board of Education to serve a three-year term on the Advisory Committee on Adult Education and Literacy. He is a member of the Prince William County Public Schools Adult Education Advisory Council and President of Caulkins Construction Company, Inc. Rodney says, "Although I have not changed the way I do business since I earned my GED® credential, I can honestly say that I feel better about my ability to compete." He was also named Construction Manager for a Wounded Warrior Project in Dale City, Virginia.
