Paul Hewins leads Skanska USA Building’s senior management team and its more than 3,200 construction professionals nationwide to deliver world-class construction services within the building sector across the United States.
As USA Building’s leader, Paul is committed to promoting Skanska’s values and creating an inclusive, collaborative culture. In more than 30 years in the industry, including 20 years with Skanska, he has demonstrated tremendous operational and financial acumen.
Prior to being appointed President and CEO of USA Building, Paul served as the Chief Operating Officer for the company’s Metro New York and Midwest Regions, overseeing operations in New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Tennessee. As COO, he built the company’s market position and talent base while focusing on operational excellence, client relationship development, and, ultimately, the overall management and success of Skanska’s operations in those regions.
Paul serves as an executive sponsor for the Skanska Women’s Network and Skanska Learning Network which are both aligned with his commitment to supporting Skanska’s business plan and employee development.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
Richard Kennedy's Bio
Richard Kennedy is President & CEO of Skanska USA and a member of Skanska’s six-person Group Leadership Team (GLT) responsible for global operations. A 23-year veteran of the construction industry, he is responsible for the company’s U.S. construction operations; U.S. corporate staff functions; and infrastructure development operations. Skanska in the U.S. generated $7.6 billion in revenue in 2019 from construction, commercial development and infrastructure development operations.
As Skanska USA’s leader, Richard is committed to collaborating with customers and to promoting an ethical, transparent and inclusive culture that allows all employees to do what they do best in service of Skanska’s customers, each and every day.
Richard has served in several other senior roles at Skanska including President and CEO of Skanska USA Building, in 2009 as the Chief Operating Officer for the firm’s Metro NY operations, and the company’s General Counsel in 2004.
In his career at Skanska, he has played a key role in securing major projects such as the $4 billion redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport Central Terminal B, the $1.2 billion James A. Farley Building Redevelopment Moynihan Train Hall project, and led the Metro NY region in becoming a significant player in the healthcare market. He also oversaw the successful execution of marquee, complex projects, such as the United Nations Headquarters Renovation, the Advanced Science Research Center for the City University of New York, the World Trade Center Transportation HUB and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, among others.
Richard is on the Board and Executive Committee for the Building Trades Employers’ Association of New York City and is Vice Chair of the New York Building Congress. He has served as past Director of the New York Building Contractors Association and past Board Member of the ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY. He is an advocate of Skanska Women’s Network and the Skanska Mentoring Program, both of which are committed to developing tomorrow’s talent from across the company.
Richard received his master of laws degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science, his juris doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and bachelor of arts degree from Rutgers University.
Robert Ward's Bio
Robert Ward leads Skanska USA Commercial Development, which delivers customer-focused, highly sustainable office, mixed-use and multi-family properties across the United States.
As President and CEO, Robert is responsible for setting strategic direction - with focus on growing Skanska’s development operations in its existing markets in Boston, Houston, Seattle, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles; improving operational effectiveness and efficiency; and evaluating new market expansion opportunities. Robert, with his leadership team, launched the company’s U.S. commercial development business in 2009. Since then, his team has developed headquarter offices for Brooks Sports, PwC (also known as PricewaterhouseCoopers) and Tommy Bahama.
Robert’s career in both the real estate development and construction industries spans over 20 years. Prior to becoming CEO, Robert served as Chief Operating Officer for Skanska USA Commercial Development. As COO, he drove several key components of the company’s development operations; which included evaluating all project investments, refining national leasing and customer strategy, exploring new market opportunities and managing the group’s professional service functions.
Since joining Skanska in 2002, Robert has managed more than $2 billion in projects in gateway cities across the country. Earlier in his tenure, he served as both the Executive Vice President of development operations in Washington, D.C. and the EVP of development operations in Houston. Under his leadership the group secured Bank of America as anchor tenant for the 754,000 square-foot office tower located in downtown Houston. While in DC, he was instrumental in the completion of the company’s first self-financed office development, 733 10th Street Northwest, which Skanska completed in 2011. And in 2019, he oversaw the launch of Skanska’s first commercial real estate development division in Los Angeles, CA.
Robert serves on the Board of Trustees of the Federal City Council and the Board of Directors of the First Tee of Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., the Virginia Tech Program in Real Estate Emeriti Board, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Skanska Commercial Development Europe. Robert is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
