Michael F. Puntillo's Bio
Urban planning, design, and building are all part of Michael Puntillo’s DNA. As a fourth generation builder and developer, Mr. Puntillo has worked at and ultimately led Jobco, located in Great Neck, New York, for over 25 years. During that time the organization has constructed and developed thousands of residential housing units in the Tri-State area, several commercial office buildings, medical facilities, historic buildings and retail stores.
Mr. Puntillo’s most recent project, completed in April 2015, is the restoration and redevelopment of the former Episcopal Church property located at 1355 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, New York. He transformed the 1930’s era Parish House building back to its original luster and added a new state-of-the-art Citibank branch location to the site.
He is currently working on constructing a 284 unit residential development in Central Islip, NY known as Foxgate. Scheduled for completion in 2018 the community, on a 25 acre campus, will include 184 condominium units as well as 100 units of rental apartments. Recently, he was successful in obtaining approvals for the Glen Cove Piazza, a $45 million revitalization project. The approval consisted of 24,000 square feet of new retail space and 110 rental apartments. It also includes a brand new Panera Bread restaurant which opened in May, 2015.
In Port Washington, New York, Mr. Puntillo converted a 40-acre former sand mine into “Mill Pond Acres” a 250 unit active adult condominium community with multi-level housing options, community center, walking trails, and parklands. This project was sold out before its completion in 2007.
Mr. Puntillo purchased a late 1800’s mill in Ulster County, New York. His creative vision, diligence, and persistence proved a winning combination. Today, The Mill, is a thriving affordable senior housing building consisting of 89 assisted rental units and is a shining example of historic adaptive re-use and revitalization.
Commitment to building better communities spills over to his personal life. Mr. Puntillo serves on many charitable organizations, community boards and committees.
Mr. Puntillo has a B.S. degree from Ithaca College and a M.S. degree from New York University.
