Tom Brown has a history in Detroit the roofing industry; his grandfather opened the Detroit branch of the Carey Company in 1900. Carey manufactured and installed roofing products. In 1952 Tom’s uncle and his partner started Wright-Brown Roofing, the Carey Co. had stopped doing contracting work.
Tom served his apprenticeship by working in each department of Wright-Brown, which included roofing and sheet metal production crews, and the service department. Mr. Wright retired in 1972 and Tom took over field operations and purchasing.
