Scope Of Work
Located in Alexandria, Virginia just inside the DC beltway, the Alexandria Renew NMF is designed to help balance the 13 billion gallons of flow the facility treats each year, a critical aspect to reducing nutrient inflow to the Chesapeake Bay. The centerpiece of the project is an 18-million gallon concrete tank extending 30 feet below-grade and topped with a public park and synthetic playing field. The project also included a state-of-the-art Anammox system, one of the first of its kind in the United States.
This $152 Million Project utilized the CMAR Project Delivery Method to provide Alexandria Renew with cost and schedule certainty. Our CMAR team was able to deliver approximately $11 Million in incorporated savings through Value Engineering. As design progressed, our engineers developed BIM-driven 3D models to "virtually construct" piping within the NMF gallery, providing material coordination and sequencing visualization as well as operability and access analysis.
