Scope Of Work

Ferreira recently completed construction of the $3.5 million Intake Canal Reventment in Port Everglades, Florida. Ferreira removed all vegetation from the intake and discharge canals. New grades were established and substrate materials were installed and compacted prior to the placement of approximately 90,000 SF or 5,000 LF of concrete revetment installation. The reventment placement required a heightened safety awareness environment due to operations requiring personnel to be on steep grades and physically in the water and operating in relatively swift water conditions. e conditions dictated simultaneous work, due to environmental concerns which prohibited leaving the bank unprotected and exposed to the weather and from the varying water velocities in the channel.

Due to there being no laydown area for equipment of materials, Ferreira had to coordinated multiple removals per day and communicate regularly with material suppliers to ensure all the necessary materials were able to be unloaded and directly installed. Ferreira’s behavior based safety culture, flexible team management style, quality control measures, and ability to manage and coordinate in these adverse conditions, resulted in a project being completed on time and with zero injuries or negative impact to adjacent contractors working in close proximity to the project.
