Dan Rogers's Bio
Dan blends more than two decades of construction industry expertise with proven management skills. As president, he oversees and is active in all aspects of the firm, including the financial management and performance of all construction projects, client management and relations, staff training and development, hiring and recruiting programs, strategic planning and business development, IT planning and operations, and the overall financial health and advancement of the organization.
Having joined Blach in 2001 as a program manager, Dan quickly progressed into a senior management role, being appointed as one of the firm’s two project executives, overseeing a team of project managers, engineers and assistants. In 2004, Dan continued his rapid ascent with a promotion to vice president, operations and four years later, became executive vice president & COO. During Dan’s tenure as EVP & COO, Blach witnessed remarkable growth and earned many industry awards for outstanding projects. Dan has also been instrumental in developing many unique and innovative solutions, including, Folia, a state-of-the-art, pre-engineered school building solution.
Dan began his professional career with Summerhill Homes and later built projects for Stanford University Capital Planning & Management program, while managing the University’s $500 million building program. While at Stanford, Dan oversaw the construction of more than $200 million of educational, athletics, housing, and infrastructure improvements.
Dan is active in a number of industry and community organizations including the Associated General Contractors (AGC). Locally, Dan serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Silicon Valley and the Air Systems Foundation.
Mike Blach's Bio
Mike is known as a dynamic and progressive business and community leader who has guided Blach Construction through three decades of sustained growth and achievement. He also sits on several boards, both industry and charity-related, including many of Silicon Valley's most visible organizations. As a result, in 2016, he was named one of Silicon Valley's 'Power Executives' by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and just one year later, The Silicon Valley Organization named him the '2017 Businessman of the Year.' Also in 2017, he was inducted into the Bellarmine College Preparatory 'Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame' for his contributions to local business and the community.
For the past 30 years, Mike has practiced a highly collaborative, servant-leader style of leadership that has inspired his colleagues to rally around his vision of being the quality and customer service leader in the industry. By creating a culture that honors the firm's core values of its employees and its relationships, Blach consistently attracts and retains top-notch professionals who continue to exceed the expectations of a discerning customer base.
Under Mike's tenure, FORTUNE magazine has ranked Blach as one of the top 100 Great Places to Work in the U.S. in the medium-size category (100-1,000 employees) - twice - and among the top 30. Moreover, Blach Construction has been the highest consistently ranked contractor in both national and regional surveys.
With Mike's focus of building a company that excels in every facet of its operation, the company also has been recognized with both statewide and national awards in the areas of safety, project innovation, green building, IT innovation, community involvement and philanthropy.
Mike also has led many industry groups; he currently serves as vice president of the Associated General Contractors of California, the state's largest construction industry trade association, and is expected to be named its president in 2020. Additionally, he is a board member and executive committee member of Raffles Insurance, Ltd, one of the country's largest group captive insurance companies.
Beyond his industry leadership, Mike is firmly committed to the community. He is currently on the Board of Regents at Santa Clara University and the board of directors of KQED, one of the nation's largest public media companies. And over the past 20 years, he has served as board president and board member of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, Sacred Heart Community Service and the Rotary Club of San Jose. He was a trustee of the Silicon Valley Children's Fund for many years as well.
In recognition of his philanthropic leadership, the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals presented Mike with the 2017 'Glenn George Heart of Philanthropy' award and Recovery Cafe San Jose named him its '2017 Bridge Builder.' Additionally, he was granted the 'Distinguished Citizen Award' by the Santa Clara Council of the Boy Scouts and he received the 'George Burdick Award' from the Mission City Community Fund.
Mike began his career at Blach Construction when he was a teenager, working as an apprentice carpenter, job clerk and expediter during summers and school vacations. While attending college, he worked part-time in the office as a junior estimator/project manager. After earning his MBA, Mike returned to Blach as an estimator/project manager and was actively involved on a wide variety of successful projects, from large distribution buildings to class 10 cleanrooms. His experience paved the way for his ascent to president & CEO, a role he assumed in 1989 when his father unexpectedly passed away.
A native of Santa Clara Valley, Mike graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory, earned a B.S. in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations from Santa Clara University and a MBA from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Chad Tyson's Bio
Chad oversees all construction operations in the Bay Area and is responsible for all-field staffing and field operations, prefabrication, warehouse, fleet and equipment management. He is a certified Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) who continues to ensure Blach holds its place as a statewide leader in safety and innovation. Under his guidance, we have received multiple awards from the AGC of America Construction Safety Excellence Awards and we’ve been named a Cal-OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Contractor.
A Blach veteran for more than 20 years, Chad actively maintains our strong union relationship by serving as Chairman of the Santa Clara/San Benito Carpenter’s Training Committee for Northern California 5.
David Kramer's Bio
Bringing 30 years of experience to Blach, David oversees the company’s in-house preconstruction services team, which includes estimating, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, constructability reviews and Virtual Design & Construction. David and his team work closely with Operations to provide accurate estimates, value engineering and constructability services to Blach projects.
Recognized for his efforts to improve Blach’s systems and incorporating best practices, David joined the Leadership Team in 2012. His industry knowledge and preconstruction expertise working with a variety of clients, including the Intel Corporation, Sutter Health, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, provide insight and guidance as the company seeks new and better ways to grow its business.
David began his career as a Project Engineer for Clark Construction. In 2004, David began to focus exclusively on preconstruction, joining Turner Construction. In 2009, David joined the Blach team as Estimating Manager, working on significant projects for clients, including Santa Clara University, Oak Grove School District and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. In 2010, he was promoted to Director of Preconstruction Services where he helped streamline the Subcontractor Pre-qualification Process and strengthened the integration of Blach’s preconstruction and construction groups. In 2014, David was promoted to vice president of preconstruction services.
David is active in a variety of industry and community organizations including the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE), where he is President of the Silicon Valley Chapter, and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG), where he co-chairs the Housing and Land Use Committee. David also represents Blach Construction as a founding member of the US Resiliency Council. David earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Duke University and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from New York University. David has been a LEED accredited professional for 12 years.
Ken Treadwell's Bio
Throughout a 30+ year tenure with Blach, Ken’s proven capabilities as a builder, augmented by natural leadership skills, have led him to supervise many of the company’s largest and most demanding projects. In his role, Ken directs all field operations including all of Blach’s craft workers, carpenters and superintendents.
Ken is also active in the company’s award-winning safety program. He has worked with every employee of the company, ensuring that each individual is engaged in Blach’s dedication to safety. Ken has fostered a true culture of safety at Blach Construction, which has resulted in incident and work loss rates well below the industry average. In 2010 and 2011, the AGC of California honored Blach as the #1 safety program in California. The program later earned the #3 national ranking by the AGC of America.
Ken is an active, long term member of the Carpenter’s Local No. 217 and a board member of the Northern California Counties Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Committee, which he has chaired multiple times.

Kim Scott's Bio
Kim Scott has been a part of the Blach team since 2004 when she graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Initially, she joined the company as a project engineer and was quickly promoted to project manager. The strong relationships she developed with major Bay Area school districts, coupled with her keen business sense and a thorough, strategic understanding of construction, led her to become Director of Education Services. In that role, Kim was – and still is – instrumental in spearheading Blach’s successful education market and business development efforts for all K-12 and higher education opportunities.
Kim’s experience spans a variety of project types and delivery methods and she is highly skilled at managing cross-functional teams. With a focus on client service, Kim works closely with operations and preconstruction groups to identify and deliver the best approach for each individual project, always ensuring a smooth transition from the project development stage into preconstruction. Her steadfast dedication to excellence, combined with the credibility she has earned throughout the industry, make her naturally suited for her current position as Vice President, Business Development & Marketing on the Blach Leadership Team.
A 2017 recipient of the prestigious TWIN Award in recognition for her leadership qualities and community impact, Kim is actively involved with several state-wide organizations focused on advancing education. These include the California Association for School Business Officials (CASBO), the Community College League of California (CCLC), Pivot Learning Partners, California’s Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH), the Community College Facility Coalition (CCFC).
Finance & Accounting
Laura Bold's Bio
Laura oversees the accounting group and is responsible for Blach's accounting, finance and risk management functions. Her accomplishments include enhancing the internal budgeting process and controls and significantly upgrading Blach's financial forecasting.
Laura also has worked closely with the firm’s IT director to create an award-winning online time card, payroll and job cost-reporting program.
Laura began her career in accounting and finance with a Palo Alto-based oil and gas investment firm, then joined Blach Construction in 1996 as a staff accountant. In 2000 Laura was promoted to accounting manager and her responsibilities were further expanded in 2002 when she was promoted to controller.
Laura earned a B.S.C. degree in Accounting from Santa Clara University, is a member of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), and is a recipient of the YWCA of Santa Clara Valley 2005 Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) award. In her spare time, Laura is a committed volunteer for Sacred Heart Community Service, coordinating annual drives for back-to-school backpacks and Holiday toys from Blach employees.

Gaye Landau-Leonard's Bio
As Vice President of Human Resources, Gaye’s top priority is to support Blach’s employees while maintaining and enhancing the company’s unique culture. She is also responsible for recruiting great people, professional training and career development, medical/other benefits programs and working to ensure employee satisfaction and overall company success.
Since Gaye joined the company, it has been voted by its employees as one of the top 10 best places to work in the Bay Area in the annual survey conducted by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal. In addition, the company was named to Fortune Magazine’s national Great Workplaces list. While she would never take responsibility for these achievements, it is her passion, expertise and leadership that has enhanced the Blach culture and elevated employee morale, all during one of the most challenging economic downturns in history.
Gaye began her career in human resources in 1980, with a UK-based public accounting firm. In 1986, she moved into strategic human resource management for two leading Silicon Valley technology companies, and later, founded her own successful HR consulting practice. In 2008, Gaye joined Blach as the Director of Human Resources.
Gaye earned her B.A. with Honors in Political Science from the University of East Anglia and later a post-graduate diploma in Human Resources Management. Gaye is president emeritus of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose and also serves on the Board of Trustees at Presentation High School. In 2013, Gaye was a recipient of the YWCA of Silicon Valley's Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) award, and in 2014, she received one of the Silicon Valley Business Journal's '100 Women of Influence' awards.
