Scope Of Work
Completed in the Spring of 2009, this 10 story precast concrete structure features three components: a parking garage to accommodate 1,411 vehicles, 26,000 SF Central Energy Plant and 2,200 SF of retail space at ground level. Due to the site’s tight logistical constraints and 110 foot garage height, on site crews were required to install the precast panels in vertical sections utilizing a 275 ton mobile crawler crane with luffing gib. The Central Plant, equipped with (3) 3,900 ton chillers and (3) cooling towers that are 36’ wide and over 40’ tall, is supported by 200 tons of structural steel dunnage. (3) 2.8 mega watt generators will provide emergency power to both the Chiller Plant and 12 existing and future Medical School buildings. The main source of fuel is stored underground in two 25,000-gallon, double-walled fiberglass fuel and oil tanks.
The assignment represents one of 7 major projects exceeding $264 million that key Moss executives have built for this University over the past ten years.
