Davide Vettraino's Bio
What’s not to like about Dave? One of the friendliest people you’ll meet, he is reliable, respectful, and enjoys building high performance teams to meet our goals. His breadth of experience in mechanical engineering, systems commissioning, construction administration, and owner representation is what makes him flourish in his role.
Dave is a relationship builder who maximizes value and ensures the highest levels of project fulfillment in education, life-science, healthcare, and corporate market segments. A Six Sigma Black Belt, his affiliations include IFMA, ASHE, ASHRAE ERAPPA, AEE, and SCUP.
Giving back to the community is one of Dave’s interests. He participates in charitable organizations that help families and individuals realize their potential and that foster respect for diversity. Dave is also a fan of all Boston sports teams. He supports his son’s interest in baseball by traveling around the United States visiting major league baseball parks. So far they’ve been to 22 of them – and counting!
Frank Morace's Bio
Frank began his career in the industry as a carpenter. He joined Caldwell & Walsh as a project superintendent in 2001 and quickly distinguished himself as a visionary leader. Clients and design teams value his 30+ years of industry experience, some of which is in the most distinguished of education and healthcare environments.
His talent is rooted in his out-of-the-box problem-solving ability and his unparalleled commitment to see projects succeed on all levels. Colleagues and coworkers alike appreciate him for his determination, calmness, and humor in the face of challenges. In his words, “There’s nothing more gratifying than leading a project where everyone’s focused on the goals, uses their expertise to solve problems, and has fun doing so.”
Some lesser-known facts about Frank: he is the father of two sets of twins and enjoys delving into financial markets and restoring the woodwork in his century old home.
Mark F. Principi's Bio
Since joining the firm in 1994 Mark is credited with managing many high profile clients and has strategically grown the firm. With nearly thirty years of industry experience, he is a visionary leader with hundreds of millions of dollars of completed projects to his credit. In his daily role he oversees all operations including sales and marketing, preparation of estimates, contracts, schedules, strategy, project implementation and expedition.
His expertise is sought by a growing list of high-caliber clients and his attention to detail and commitment to deliver the best possible project sets the standard for Caldwell & Walsh’s performance. This is evidenced by numerous testimonials and awards.
Prior to joining Caldwell & Walsh, Mark served as Project Manager for a multi-national commercial construction company. His educational background includes a degree in ConstructionManagement and Industrial Technology from Central Connecticut State University.
Michael Ferrone 's Bio
With nearly three decades of service to Caldwell & Walsh, Mike’s professional experience and success at every level of the organization make him uniquely qualified to lead our operations and client facing divisions. Recognizing that trust is earned through performance, Mike prides himself on over 90% of his business coming from referrals and repeat business. Mike is interested in consistently learning, growing and staying current within his field. His credentials and affiliations include HCC, SCUP, ASHE and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
When Mike takes time to recharge and relax, you can find him playing golf in the warm weather and skiing in the cold months with his wife and two daughters.
When Michael isn’t on a jobsite, he can be found enjoying time with his family, skiing, and golfing.
Estimating, Purchasing & Preconstruction
John Deren's Bio
John directs the estimating functions for all of Caldwell & Walsh’s business units. He manages budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and logistical planning for projects ranging in size and scope, from interior build-outs to new construction. John’s relationships with the subcontractor community are invaluable; he always has a steady pulse on current market conditions and trends.
Aligning design with cost-effective approaches is where John adds the greatest value. His straightforward methodology and diligence for each and every cost calculation is applied to all client requests, modifications, and ad-hoc assessments.
By day, John’s tools of the trade include estimating software and spreadsheets with pivot tables; after hours his tools of the trade are his motorcycles.
Michael Iorii's Bio
From the earliest stages of a project’s life cycle, Mike sets every project up for success. Whether mitigating risk or assessing strategic opportunities, he ensures pre-construction resources are applied to ensure optimal results.
With a background in architecture and capital project management, Mike now applies his experience on the construction side. His portfolio includes more than a billion dollars worth of capital projects. He is adept at cost analysis, logistics planning, and scheduling.
When Mike isn’t at the office, you can find cheering on his daughters at their lacrosse games. Water sports and skiing are also among his favorite pastimes.

Diane Newman's Bio
Diane brings over 20 years of Corporate Operations experience to Caldwell & Walsh. She will actively evaluate our internal and external processes to ensure that Caldwell & Walsh is supporting our clients to achieve the highest level of success and satisfaction. Diane will manage company-wide business guidelines and strategies by working hands on with department leaders, internal staff and executive management to ensure operational excellence. Diane focuses on building strong business relationships built on the foundation of Caldwell & Walsh’s Core Values. Diane promotes internal and external communication and welcomes the opportunity to learn about each client, their specific needs, and how Caldwell & Walsh can develop and maintain a successful relationship.
When Diane is not working, she enjoys spending her down time with her family, friends, and two rescue dogs.

Ryan Equale's Bio
Ryan works with both new and existing clients to help us achieve our mission of earning trust through performance. He is responsible for client relationship management and identifying and exploring new opportunities that benefit our strategic growth initiatives. With over two decades of experience helping clients achieve their goals, Ryan’s focus on cross-functional teamwork and transparent communication is something our clients appreciate and value. While constantly benchmarking and improving how we service our clients and remain competitive, Ryan helps ensure that our core values continue to be the foundation for our team.
You can often find Ryan in attendance at SCUP, NEHES, ASHE, and other industry organization events. A former All-American for the UCONN Huskies men's ice hockey team, Ryan remains actively involved with hockey through his children and coaching.

James Bateman's Bio
Establishing, implementing, and monitoring our companywide safety program is Jim’s primary focus. He ensures thorough project safety pre-planning and objectives compliance are achieved to maintain an accident-free work environment for everyone who comes in contact with our jobsites.
Working closely with our executive team and supported by well-trained site safety officers, Jims spends much of his time in the field communicating and interacting with workers and clients. He conducts regular jobsite reviews validating Caldwell & Walsh’s superior safety standards among our employees and subcontractors.
He fosters a culture in which every employee takes ownership for making safety a high priority. In his words, “We consider everyone to be an integral part of the team who should take full responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those around them.”
Jim holds numerous safety and health certifications as well as professional designations including: Certified Hazard Recognition Specialist (CHRS), Construction Safety & Health Specialist (CSHS) and Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM). He is a member of the Safety Executives of New York (SENY), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).
In his free time Jim enjoys spending time with his family. He’s a fan of college sports and is especially fond of Army game days at West Point.
