Scope Of Work
Caldwell & Walsh has constructed several Walgreens locations in Connecticut and New York. In the first instance, we were contracted to complete a multi-phased project in Bridgeport. Interstingly enough, Walgreens occupies the site where Tom Thumb’s house once stood. As this project neared completion, we built another new store in West Haven that eventually replaced an existing store. Excavation uncovered railroad ties and train tracks from a trolley car/train turn around that once inhabited the site. The building was completed in less than six months, due in part to the new design utilizing precast wall panels. This was one of the first times this application was used in the northeast; the application is said to save time and keep the quality of construction consistent. Once the store was fully operational, the existing Walgreens was demolished and a new infiltration system was installed for storm water drainage in its prior location. Site development and construction of the Danbury, Connecticut and Larchmont, New York locations were also completed for this retail pharmacy chain store.
