Our Story

Life Industry

“People Enhancing life”

Life Industry Mechanical’s goal is to add adequate value to our customers, while providing a stable way of life to our employees and the community we serve.

Life Industry started off as many companies like itself once did, as vision. A Vision of bringing the construction trade to a much-needed community. In construction you add value to a project, from a collection of raw materials, hard work, skilled labor, and proper execution. All needed to improve the life of people we aim to serve.

Lolita Hughes has 17 years of plumbing experiences, seven in the private sector, and 10 in the public sector. Lolita's journey in the pipe trade started off when she was in her mid-30’s going through a divorce, as a way to provide a stable way of life for her kids. She knew and understood how a strong trade can provide a stable way of life, because her X-husband was a Union electrician.  Lolita decided to get into “Chicago Women In Trade,” better known as C.W.I.T. and discover Plumbing as her trade of choice.

Lolita's journey was tough in the beginning, but she made it through her five year apprenticeship, with the support of her sisters in CWIT, her family, and the support of her local union 130. With this support Lolita would get her ultimate goal of getting her Plumbing license.

Lolita looks forward in advance to the pipe trade in her community of people of color and women, people who it might have been a disconnect from the construction trade.

Walter Smith was an extremely blessed individual fortunate enough to be second generation trade. Walter has seven years of pipe trade experience, and two year of electrical experience. Walter understood how the trades saved his life long before he even entered a construction site. Strong parents, backed by strong unions, creates endless opportunities for future generations. Walter was eager early in his career to go into business for himself and bring these opportunities to his much-needed community.

Walter understood that it takes strong people from the community at a grass root level willing to take risks, along with the opportunity to help their community reach its full potential.
