Columbia Hicks is a mixed-income development that offers both for-sale (Columbia Commons) rental units (Columbia Hicks) located in the Columbia Street Waterfront District in Brooklyn, south of Atlantic Avenue. The development is the capstone of several years of investment rehabilitation in the district that has seen rapid growth in restaurants, shops cultural outposts. The development closed on financing in an especially challenging market environment, yet achieved a highly successful rent up sell out. The transformation of the site of the former Hamberger Christmas Display Factory adjacent vacant lot has resulted in 125,000 SF of residential space with units studios through four bedrooms. The project was awarded the 2011 Jack Kemp Workforce Housing Models of Excellence Award.
