Testimonials
Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value
We have been so pleased with the quality of work and professionalism by AC Wood that we've hired them to do multiple projects for us throughout the last 10 years. They have: 1)Installed new vinyl siding, 2) replaced a large bay window, 3) built a new and larger deck, 4) completely gutted and remodeled our kitchen and dining room and just recently 5) replaced our roof down to the rafters. Each project required a contractor who would not take short cuts and insisted on quality work through to the very end. That is AC Wood. We have never been disappointed by Adam and his crew. They are a detail oriented, respectful, and hard working crew. In addition to all that, they also provide multiple daily updates on the progress of your project. My wife and I were out of town during our roofing project and we kept receiving updates throughout the day keeping us informed of the progress. While this is standard process for Adam, it was still great knowing that our home was in good hands and my presence wasn't needed. We are so grateful to have found Adam and plan to always hire AC Wood for future projects.
Services: Remodeling, Install drywall, Paint indoors, Install flooring, Install tile work, Roof installation, Flooring, Demolition.
We contracted AC Wood to build a 23' x 25' addition to an existing garage on our property. This project included excavation, frost walls and footings, and reinforced concrete garage floor in addition to the structure itself.
From the estimate process throughout the entire project, Adam and all of his employees and subcontractors were responsive, honest, and professional. What impressed us most was how they worked with our budget (and design changes to meet that budget). I’m sure we were not their biggest project or client at the time, but you wouldn’t have known that by the way they worked with us to make the project a reality. Rick Soltes and Adam Wood were absolutely phenomenally patient through this process. Our budget did not make it easy for them but, in short order, we all agreed on a satisfactory cost and scope of work.
The excavation and concrete work was subcontracted to A. Williams & Son. Not too far into the ground, Andy ran into quite of bit of ledge. Andy was honest and up front about our options and the impact to the budget and we worked out a fair solution rather quickly. Andy made sure that we saw the work completed in each phase and let us know what would be happening next. He maintained a clean and safe worksite at all times and caused no damage to the property or existing structure. While the work below ground is important, the key feature of a garage is the floor. Andy and his father expertly created a near perfect garage floor, which has already stood up to one auto restoration project and will serve as the base for many more.
While the floor was curing, Vic (the carpentry foreman) and Adam Wood were on site to scope out the next phase of the project and to discuss any issues and concerns with us. Within a day or two, his crew hit the ground running and the framing was up within a couple of days. I had the opportunity one day to watch Don, Billy, and Mike at work. It was good to see true craftsmen who take pride in their work, and the results proved it. Once again, they maintained a clean and safe jobsite – no waste or trash, no nails in the driveway – which, quite frankly, is rare based on my past experience with other contractors. The garage was completed exactly as I had drawn it in my initial sketch and blended perfectly with the existing garage and house… like it had always been there.
The electrical subpanel wiring was completed by Crosier Electric. Mark visited the site and walked through our expectations. He was right on with his estimate and Jon and his crew completed the work exactly as discussed. Once again, we got exactly what we asked for exactly where I asked for it.
We met with Adam Wood at least three times in person and had numerous phone calls and emails to update us and to see if we were satisfied with the project at each phase. The project was completed ahead of the deadline that I set and we could not have been more pleased with the finished product.
Adam sets the gold standard for contractors. He expects a lot from his employees and subcontractors. I have recommended AC Wood to friends and relatives and would hire them again without reservation.
Dear Mr. Wood (Adam),
My husband and I would like to thank you and your wonderful, professional crew for helping us create the newly renovated kitchen we have always wanted.
We looked around for quite a while to find a contractor that we felt showed professionalism, quality work and dependability. As soon as we met with Adam and Paul and received the written estimate, we knew we found what we were looking for.
Every member of the crew that worked on this project were/are the best. They showed up early and wor????ed late. They worked from the minute they got to the house until the end of the day. They barely took breaks! All the workers were so professional, hard working, and polite and knew their trade, it was a pleasure to have them working for us from start to finish of this project. They even cleaned up their mess at the end of each day to start fresh again the next morning.
We wish everyone could see what our old kitchen looked like and see what it looks like now. Unbelievable.
We have had several friends and family come to see this beautiful kitchen and we can't tell them enough good things about the whole experience of hiring and working with AC Wood Contracting. We are so pleased with the final results.
If you are looking to find a contractor that knows what he is doing and a crew that is
above the norm, give Adam a call you won't be disappointed.
Sincerely,
Great job! So well executed, in all respects - your terrific organization, leadership, and the consequent support of your team yielded a blazingly excellent finished product. Terrific. Thank you! I'm still pinching myself in wonder: the guys were on the roof by 8:15 , and apart from a quick break in mid-day were finished by c. 3:00 ... and after a thorough site clean-up, were on the road by 4. Wow! The CDC was hauled out c. 9:45 Friday; Chuck had left a voicemail message saying that Wolf would not be able to pick up the porta-potty until late Monday (no problem for me), but it went out the driveway c. 6:45 PM Friday ... the pick-up guy, who lives in North Adams, was working late, was taking his truck home, and decided to get the critter out of my way en route to his house. All good. And my "scrapper" neighbor could hardly believe his good fortune when on Friday morning I offered him the copper sitting on the lawn ... it was gone within the hour. He said that he had never heard of a contractor who didn't make off with anything of value like that. I said now he had ... that you operate in an ethical world that these days is not often seen. Which I sensed initially, and which is central to why I chose to work with you to begin with.

Mr.Wood,
I'm not really sure what to say! Thank you, doesn't seem like enough. The experience with your company has just been wonderful! Tom, your crew, all have been so kind, professional & knowledgeable. So proud of my new house! I thank you for your compassion & understanding in this matter. I will & already have recommended your company to some people. The way your company works & the way your employees work says so much about the man in charge! I thank you again for making it possible to go on & live my life, free from debt I just could not handle.
I so appreciate all you have done for me!
Thank you,
Dear Adam,
This is Ali from the Dalton Ave residence that had the issue of bathroom ceiling caving in from the water leak that happened from the roof. My wife and I are very grateful that you and your professional crew helped us promptly repair the issue and stop water from doing more damage. We really appreciate and honor your true professionalism in being there and standing behind your work even after 12 years have gone by.
Tom Clark and the crew were very respectful and worked diligently throughout the repair process until they found the source of the water leak. This meant that they even worked in cold temperatures, repairing and replacing free of charge all sections of the roof and a room addition’s with new shingles, flashing, and rubber sheeting.
Once all outside work was done, Tom and his crew diligently repaired the damaged ceiling inside our house and making it look normal again.
We did not feel like we were abandoned, but rather received a quick professional response and the urge to fix the problem even after many years went by.
Thank you very much for your integrity and loyal business. Have a great holiday.
Sincerely yours,
Thanks Adam. I just wanted to express how grateful we've been for your promptness and patience. Your staff is really nice and receives info well in order to be as helpful as possible. You all have been great and we just wanted to make sure you (and your staff) know that.
AC Wood Contracting have done replacement , repair and and remodeling at my home. Excellent quality work with very professional workers.
I had A. C. Wood repair some rotted wood around five of my windows. They also replaced some siding
that had been damaged when high winds dropped a tree on the power lines and ripped a piece of
siding off my house along with the power lines. They performed the work on a time and material basis
and I am happy to report the workers completed the job quickly and professionally. I am very pleased
with the results and plan to hire A. C. Wood to make some other needed repairs on my house.
The fellows at AC Wood were respectful, patient and understanding with me as my Harvest Home 2
car garage was a big project for me. From Adam who first came to see me, to Chuk who was amazing
as my plan changed midstream to include an open breezeway, Andy the excavator and especially to
Victor and his crew who did amazing finish work. There were times I felt stressed and they worked with
me and I am pleased with the results.
Adam, Vic, and crew are incredible to work with. Transparent from start to finish. We have hired AC
Wood for vinyl siding, new deck, new bay window, and most recently a complete kitchen remodel.
They conduct themselves with professionalism every step of the way and the results speak for
themselves. We have never been disappointed.
AC Wood is a totally professional company that strives for perfection and keeps the customers need
their top priority. With a top notch office staff and highly trained field services AC Wood will always be
my choice and would highly recommend them.
Very good work. Prompt, knowledgeable, polite, and neat. One of the best prices for doing the job. Very
satisfied with the company and their work
To Whom It May Concern:
It is our pleasure to write this Letter of recommendation on behalf of Adam Wood, of A.C. Wood Contracting. Adam was the General Contractor for the construction project of a two-story two-car garage and breezeway at our home in the fall of 2016. We had no prior relationship with Mr. Wood, who was recommended to us by our Home Inspector.
The scope of the construction included: Excavation and Foundation (including concrete pad driveway in front of garage pitched to drain and rebuilding of stone walls); Electric in the garage (including Electric sub-panel); Installation of Overhead Door; Painting; Masonry; and all aspects of the physical construction of the garage and breezeway.
The project took 20 weeks and involved six work crews (excavators, concrete pourers, carpenters, painters, roofers (plus electrician and structural engineer) at a budget of just over $150,000. While major construction is inherently stressful for almost any home- owner, Adam’s services as a general contractor were invaluable, and we are extremely pleased with the final result. So much so that we have recommended him to friends, neighbors, and other local homeowners and businesses in the area.
Specifically, we would give Adam top marks in the following areas:
Quality of Work Performed: The quality of work done was consistently top notch. Adam used workmen and subcontractors who were knowledgeable, skilled, and competent in their respective trades. They were self-starters who were conscientious about following project specifications, and their work product rarely needed improvement or revision.
Quality of Work Crews: The workmen whom Adam utilized were professional, reliable, courteous, and respectful of our property and privacy. They had excellent work habits, strong safety orientation, and emphasized getting the job done right rather than doing it quickly. Their pride in their work was evident. They tidied up the area at the end of each workday. We also found them to be exceedingly personable and felt more than comfortable allowing them free access to the inside of our home.
Project Management and Coordination: Adam’s prior experience working in construction was invaluable. He was knowledgeable of all aspects of our project and was able to plan, coordinate and manage the activities of different work crews effectively. He remained closely involved in overseeing the project from start to finish. His work ethic, excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills and commitment to follow-through are assets which enabled him to juggle the extensive details involved in our project without “missing a beat”. Adam’s familiarity with building codes and finesse in dealing with Great Barrington’s Building Inspector Ed May also facilitated a smooth and hassle-free process when it came to building permits and inspection.
Integrity and Professionalism: Throughout the project, we were impressed with Adam’s commitment to generating a top quality product, rather than maximizing his profit margin. When situations arose where extra work needed to be done (because of hidden problems that were not apparent until work on the garage and breezeway had commenced), Adam either took care of it without charging us extra (if it was relatively minor) or involved us in an informed decision about increased costs (if it was more extensive) so that the solution was fair to all parties.
Effective Communication: Adam kept us closely informed of his work crews’ schedules, delivery dates, and projected completion dates of different phases of our project. His communication (whether by text or cell) was always clear and concise, informative, and helpful. He was available on his cell phone, or returned our texts or phone calls within the hour. We never had a single miscommunication throughout the five-month project. His communication with the work crews was equally effective.
Flexibility and Effectiveness in Dealing with Unexpected Developments: When unforeseen problems surfaced Adam worked diligently with us to identify a solution that was acceptable to us. He utilized resources effectively and creatively and directed the work crew to make changes necessary for implementing the solution.
Responsiveness to Homeowner’s Needs and Concerns: Adam’s commitment to homeowner satisfaction was evident in his actions. On the few occasions when we brought a request or concern to his attention, he listened attentively, and always took appropriate action that demonstrated responsiveness to our needs or concerns.
Truth in Advertising: Adam presented us with an impressive and detailed Bid Book, to include PDF Prints, Spreadsheets, Scope of work, Letters from Subcontractors and their associated tasks and itemized costs, a Certificate of Insurance, Truss Designs, Building Permit Applications, and his contract. His contract was just as detailed in describing the work to be done, a construction timeline specifying a starting and completion date; a list of materials the bid was based on, and an explanation of warranties for fixtures and labor. When the project was completed, all the work was done as described and agreed upon, and there were no hidden costs, extra expenses or unpleasant surprises. As homeowners and customers, we felt Adam delivered exactly what he had promised, at the agreed upon price.
Value: We solicited several bids for our construction project. Although Adam’s bid was not the lowest, we are certain that he delivered the highest quality work, for the best value, for the price he charge. We believe in the adage that you get what you pay for and we could not be more pleased with the end result.
Sensitivity to worksite appearance and neighbor relations: Our project required a portable toilet (for the work crew), and there was very limited parking in our neighborhood (as well as construction of a new home going on simultaneously directly across the street). Adam’s placement of the portable toilet and construction materials was based not solely on function and convenience, but showed a consideration for the aesthetics of the worksite. The work crew parked their vehicles in ways that were minimally disruptive to the neighborhood traffic, and their conduct never caused any discomfort to our neighbors. In the five months during this project, there was not one single neighbor complaint! Instead, six or more different neighbors passed on compliments about the work crews and the garage.
In closing, we are thrilled with our garage and breezeway and are extremely impressed with Adam Wood’s work as a General Contractor. My husband and I have been homeowners for over 40 years, and we took the time to write this Letter of Recommendation for Adam because we believe that his exceptional work should not go unnoticed. We would not hesitate to hire Adam again, or to recommend him to our friends, neighbors, and local homeowners and businesses. We recommend Adam Wood enthusiastically and without reservation. Adam is a rare find today - he is a man of integrity whose word is his bond. Beyond being a talented General Contractor and Builder, Adam is a delightful human being with a heart of gold, a willingness to please, and a work ethic that leads him to always go that extra mile for his customers and instills in others who work with him the desire to always do the best possible job and to do it with a smile.
If you have any questions about our experience with Adam, please feel free to call us at 413-645-3246.
Sincerely,
