American Thermal Solutions specializes in all forms of mechanical insulation from gas and steam turbines to pipes, valves and flanges and everything in between.  We utilize Auto CAD to design our reusable mattress systems.  We also fabricate sheet metal for jacketing and saddles.  Our Fort Myers Florida facility services both North and South America.

TURBINE INSULATION 
STEAM TURBINE WITH SPRAY INSULATION                                                                                                                                                                                                                A special type of insulation, namely mineral wool-based spray insulation is an additional option. Due to the complex housing contours of steam turbines, this insulation type can be used in conjunction with textile mattress insulation to ensure the least amount of heat loss in these areas.  

A cavity made of expanded metal is inserted equivalent to the insulation thickness previously calculated by us for the area to be insulated. The insulation is then blown into the cavity and dried by the turbine’s own heat emissions. Finally the system is coated with external protection made of mineral heat plaster, providing oil and water-repellent protection.

The advantages of this spray insulation system are the extended durability and the extremely efficient insulating effect. The spray insulation is a closed system and as a result there is no heat loss. This system is well proven to increase efficiency and reduce energy costs.

GAS TURBINE WITH MATTRESS INSULATION                                                                                                                                                                                          Insulation with flexible textile mattresses has prevailed in modern gas and steam turbine technology over the past years. This insulation method combines the benefits of ease of adaptation, reduced airborne fibers and increased mattress durability.   

We first obtain specific measurements, either on site or through 3D drawings. The textile mattresses are then designed in our centralized technology department with the help of state of the art CAD technology, produced in our own production workshops and subsequently delivered and installed on site. High demands on quality, adherence to international standards and the implementation of special customer requests are an integral part of our work.

We process a variety of textile types and insulation materials, which are optimally combined depending on the technical needs. It goes without saying that we only use high quality and asbestos-free materials, which correspond to the high requirements in power plant construction.

INDUSTRIAL NOISE PROTECTION                                                                                                                                                                                                          Our noise protection hoods are custom-made, manufactured and mounted, all with the latest state of the art technologies. The enclosures provide additional protection of installations against environmental influence and reduce acoustic emissions emanating from the enclosed components. In order to ensure continuous and best heat radiation, ventilation systems and vents are installed. Tightness of the hoods after mounting is verified by means of the “Blower Door Test”.
