Even as a child, Christopher Klick was always fascinated watching
houses being built. In fact, he occupied much of his spare time
building forts with his friends and staying up all night to make
masterpieces out of Legos. Still, it wasn’t until later that his
career plan actually took shape. In a high school health class, after
being prompted to write a paper about his future goals, Chris shared
that he wanted to be construction contractor.
“My teacher read that paper and replied that it sounded like a lot of
work,” he recalls with a chuckle. “I took that as challenge.”
After venturing to beautiful Charleston, South Carolina with his
family in early 2001, Chris went to work with Hardy Homes, passed the
South Carolina Home Builders Exam and even earned the moniker of “the
best employee” by his supervisor. When a side project to remodel a
friend’s home in Snee Farm exceeded expectations, Chris made the final
decision to embark on his own. His company soon became known for
superior craftsmanship and meticulous work practices. In 2004, a
landmark year, CK Contracting built its first house.
Today, CK Contracting maintains satisfied clients in both custom home
building and remodeling. The company has weathered the difficulties in
the real estate market and is now poised for dynamic growth.
