Scope Of Work

Once a surface parking lot, 400 E Street, SW houses the first brand new fire station to be built in D.C. for more than 20 years. This new home for Engine Company 13 features a modern facility for the fire and emergency service units that serve the rapidly growing population of Southwest DC.

The 214-key Hyatt Place National Mall hotel sits atop the complex, with meeting rooms, an outdoor pool, fitness center, and rooftop bar with awe-inspiring 360° views of Washington’s iconic monuments. “As DC continues to grow and thrive economically, we are excited to add to the momentum by welcoming the third Hyatt Place hotel to the city,” said General Manager Stacy Smith. “In this fantastic location, with our smartly designed social spaces and guestrooms with separate areas to work and sleep, we know that we will exceed expectations for business and leisure guests.”

400 E Street, SW, is also home to the brand new headquarters for Kid Power, Inc., a local non-profit providing afterschool and summer programs to underserved youth throughout the District.

“400 E Street, SW, is a beautifully designed mixed-use project that is the manifestation of a successful public-private partnership,” said Geoffrey Griffis, founder and principal of CityPartners. “From day one, our team was committed to developing a project that would truly serve the community.”

Further advancing their commitment to the residents of DC, E Street Development Group has been working with the DC Department of Employment Services to launch a pilot job training program for underserved young adults. The program, CityPartners Pathways, offers job apprenticeships in the hospitality industry, the first of its kind in DC.

E Street Development Group will continue to transform this block of SW DC when it begins phase 2 of this project at 555 E Street, the site of the old Engine Company 13. Slated to begin construction in 2017, phase 2 will be a 300,000-square-foot mixed-use building with strong retail, hospitality, apartments and other community partners.
