Our Story
Our founder, Bert Altfillisch, began his career in earthmoving at the end of World War II. A decorated Naval Construction Battalion veteran, Bert purchased an army surplus tractor and started land leveling for agricultural operations in the Central Valley.
In 1950, Altfillisch Construction Company incorporated. Among its more notable accomplishments, Altfillisch Construction Company acted as managing partner for the construction of Perris Dam and moved 40 million cubic yards for Anaconda Copper Co. in Arizona.
In our 71 years as ACI, we have moved over 600,000,000 cubic yards of California, ranging from blasted rock to soft mud. Our worksites have been as varied as the material we have moved - steep ocean-view subdivisions, rolling golf courses, and flat commercial land. From the coastline to the desert, ACI's work has literally reshaped the face of California.
Our Tier 4 fleet meets all of California's environmental and industrial regulations, protecting our environment and supporting a healthier future.
Our ability to incorporate new technologies into our operations has allowed us to maintain our position as an industry leader. Our GPS calibrated guidance equipment increases efficiency and ensures you get the highest quality finished product in the shortest amount of time. When coupled with our in-house 3D modeling, we can adapt to changes quickly and provide consistent updates throughout your project.
Our staff at ACI are proactive problem solvers who team with our clients to help them get their projects done right. Collaboration, efficiency, quality, and service are among the reasons we do so much repeat business with customers such as The Irvine Company, Rancho Mission Viejo, Newhall Land and Farming Co., Lennar, Toll Brothers, and many more.
