HNL Kitchens & Bath Inc. (HNL) is a manufacturer and direct distributor of custom kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, based out of Middletown, New York. Specializing in the multifamily sector, as well as hotels, senior housing and affordable housing, HNL does much more than just the basics. The company, led by Owner Abraham Gandl, installs years of industry experience into every design.
New York's leading contractors and architects throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, partner with HNL for high-quality, high-value cabinetry competitively priced and crafted per spec. Abraham’s hands-on approach to the construction process affords clients precious peace of mind, saving them stress, time and money at every stage of design and installation.
More than a Supplier
HNL goes above and beyond your typical supplier, working within a very distinct model of a full-service, one-stop shop. Abraham, who brings more than 15 years of industry knowledge, started HNL Kitchens & Bath in 2015 to give customers a different kind of experience. He understands that the complexities inherent in the art of cabinet design and installation require a level of service not seen in other markets, especially when it involves multifamily and other multi-unit projects where coordination and consistency are key.
“Cabinetry,” he explains, “is different from other trades, which are simple to order. When you order Sheetrock or appliances, etc., you have a model number, call the supplier and say, ‘I need 20 of this, and 10 of this,’ and they just deliver it. With cabinetry, though, there’s a design process; a consultation is required so that a conflict doesn't occur with the other cabinets or appliances. There's a lot of coordination involved, and with a multifamily project it is even more so. When it comes to 100 or 200 units, you can’t just have a supplier drop off stuff. It's a whole process that needs a lot of focus and a personal level of attention.”
Showing Value at Every Stage
HNL, in fact, specializes in bringing value and individualized attention to the process—from supply to install, which, Abraham notes, is best achieved by taking a holistic approach. He says, “There are companies saying they are doing all the services customers are asking for, but the reality is they’re not. What I’ve witnessed is companies trying to come in with the lowest bid so they’re not giving an accurate quote. They might cut corners or they don't hire enough people to service so many projects; they end up losing money on a yearly basis and they go out of business.”
The right way, in Abraham’s opinion, is for full transparency right from the start. “We make a separate charge for the services that the contractor is really expecting. We’re not about the lowest price; we want our customers to understand the value of the actual materials and the value of the services. Our model allows customers to pick and choose which services they want or need—and see the price line for each service, whether for the cabinets themselves, coordinated countertops, shop drawings, field measurements. There are no surprises.”
Abraham also suggests that contractors looking for full service and a supplier that doesn’t just drop off a product at a job site consider partnering with HNL, which can take on the responsibility of quality control, even inspecting the materials upon delivery, alleviating the contractor’s chore of managing each step. “Providing oversight is one of our specialties.”
Tracking Progress, Granting Peace of Mind
One unique way that HNL gives customers peace of mind is through the use of an advanced online tracking system that shows real-time updates at every stage of the process, from submission through completion. The platform allows contractors to see progress and catch any red flags as they appear, whether during measuring, delivery or install. All the issues are laid out.
Abraham concludes, “We want to partner with contractors to make the process as smooth as possible. I want them to know that HNL Kitchens & Bath is committed to their success and to meeting their expectations. It’s a special relationship where our team can handle every aspect of design, delivery and install, upholding the highest standards of quality, reliability and consistency.”
