As CFO, Al is responsible for managing the company’s financial health worldwide as well as supporting a wide range of strategic initiatives to help advance firm growth goals. Al’s 20 years of industry experience includes establishing and driving various corporate functions, such as finance, strategy, enterprise risk management, and procurement. Prior to joining Cumming, Al spent five-and-a-half years as Chief Financial & Strategy Officer for ASTAD Project Management in Doha, Qatar, and before that held executive-level positions with Weatherford International and Gannett/USA Today.

David serves as Executive Vice President in charge of Cumming’s cost management services nationwide. Initially joining the company as a cost management technician in 2004, he quickly demonstrated his ability to lead and provide outstanding cost services on diverse and increasingly complex building type 

David has been in the construction industry since 1995. He holds a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland, and is a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering.

Derek is an experienced chartered surveyor and construction executive with overall responsibility for Cumming’s Project Management operations in the Eastern U.S. and hospitality sector worldwide. Throughout his 20-plus years in the industry, Derek has participated in the development of nearly 150 projects the majority of which have involved major hotel, resort, timeshare, and multi-family properties. Derek has a proven track record as an owner’s representative, development and project manager, and in a variety of consulting roles supporting clients around the world.

Finlay oversees Cumming’s global operations and works alongside CEO David Baird and the company’s executive team to drive operations across Cumming offices worldwide. Finlay brings more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry, including 26 years in project consulting. Throughout his career, Finlay has proven his ability to achieve significant business growth and support large mergers and acquisitions. Finlay’s success has been accomplished through his unwavering commitment to quality, client service, integrity, and team member growth and development.

As COO of Lehrer Cumming, Gavin works closely with clients engaged in significant ground-up developments, repositioning of existing properties, and complex renovations in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Boston, and the Caribbean. With 25 years of design and construction experience throughout North America, the Caribbean, and Europe, Gavin has extensive expertise in managing mixed-use projects from inception to final delivery and closeout, with a focus on logistically complex projects with challenging deadlines and schedules. Gavin has been a key stakeholder in projects across a wide variety of asset classes, including academic buildings, mid- and high-rise office buildings, industrial business parks, and high-rise condominiums.

Mike has nearly 30 years of experience in the construction industry. He is responsible for managing the daily operations for Cumming’s project and cost management groups, including its portfolio of more than 400 current education, hospitality, healthcare, and other public and private sector projects nationwide…

A professional estimator by trade, Mike has a thorough knowledge of all cost management concepts and practices. In addition to estimating, Mike is well-versed in all areas of construction management and consulting, including master planning, project controls, contract management, and expert witness testimony.

Rashaad joined the Cumming team in early 2021 as CTO. In this newly created role, Rashaad is responsible for developing and executing the company’s vision to create an integrated, long-term global digital strategy. An expert in the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the engineering and construction industries, Rashaad is a trained mechanical engineer with more than 20 years of experience in engineering, project management, and digital technologies. Rashaad holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence from Queen’s Smith School of Business and Master of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary.

Scott is the Chief People Officer for Cumming, where he leads the organization’s overall people strategy. Scott started with the company in 2006 as its first recruiter. As the company grew, Scott built and scaled the Talent Acquisition team to support what continues to be one of the fastest-growing firms in the industry. Today, Scott is focused on putting appropriate measures in place to ensure our talented team have every opportunity to meet their full potential…and have a bit of fun getting there. Scott has spoken at numerous industry events, including multiple ERE recruiting conferences, the Candidate Experience Awards, multiple HR technology workshops, an AACE symposium, CMAA student events, and more. He is also the Co-founder of the San Diego Talent Acquisition Network and a member of the Society for Human Resources Management.

Stephen leads Cumming’s Marketing and Business Development teams with a focus on long-term organizational growth. Throughout his career, Stephen has assembled and led multi-disciplinary teams to provide portfolio, program, project, PMO, commercial, cost, controls, and technology services across the real estate sector. Educated in Engineering and Business, Stephen started his career as an Officer in the British Army before leading large capital project and program teams in the UK, China, and the US for some of the world’s leading organizations. Prior to joining Cumming, Stephen served as the Head of Business Generation for the North Americas’ region of the world’s largest pure-play, project and program management, professional services company for three years supporting an average regional growth of >25% per year.

Bill serves as Executive Vice President with responsibility for growing Cumming’s Strategic and National Accounts portfolio. With more than 30 years of development, program management, and consulting experience, Bill has led teams in the successful completion of numerous types of developments including hotel/condo, office, mixed use, commercial, and healthcare projects. With his vast experience working for major global organizations, Bill has a unique understanding of strategy and master planning as well as design and construction management. Bill holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Colorado State University and an MBA from the University of Colorado. He is a past Chapter President and National Board Member of the Healthcare Institute, and an active member in ASHE, NAHSE, and other industry organizations.

Joe manages Cumming’s Central region, which includes Colorado, Tennessee, Illinois, Washington, D.C., and Georgia. Joe founded CapEX Project Management in 2014, which flourished under his leadership and before merging with Cumming in 2019. Throughout his 27-year career in the construction industry, Joe has managed numerous multi-million-dollar projects across Tennessee, Texas and other parts of the Central U.S., including new-builds, expansions, acquisitions, and PIP developments. A long-standing industry leader, Joe has worked on behalf of contractors, architects, and owners, giving him a nuanced understanding of all sides of a project, including both creative design and real-life construction.

John leads global mergers and acquisitions for Cumming, working closely with senior management, institutional investors, and our board of directors to execute the firm’s long-term strategic plan. Since joining the firm in 2017, John and his team have successfully acquired and integrated 11 project management, cost management and building surveying consultancies located in the U.S., UK, and Ireland. Throughout John’s 24-year career in private equity, leveraged buyout finance, and corporate development, John has invested a cumulative $1.6 billion in capital in more than 40 private companies. Prior to entering the M&A industry, John was a Certified Public Accountant in the audit group of an international accounting firm. John received his MBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University and his BBA in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma.
