Scope Of Work
The Engineering Innovation Building is home to the only high-bay structural research laboratory in northeastern Illinois, built for engineers and industry professionals to develop and test large and heavy infrastructural components. The research in this one-of-a-kind facility will impact the future of design and construction. The building supports students and researchers for the Civil and Materials Engineering (CME) Department, Chemical Engineering (CE) Department, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department, and includes research laboratories/computational labs and offices assigned to the Dean of the College as flexible space.
Our team engaged BIM experts to support the intense coordination of structural systems and MEP systems not only supporting the basic utility needs of the building, but also the advanced power systems and plumbing required to run a laboratory building. Given CCC’s local experience, the team used a large amount of locally sourced materials and implemented a sustainable program to track LEED Gold certification. This complex project finished on time and on budget and successfully engaged multiple local partners.
