David Bandy's Bio
David Bandy founded Bandy Constructors on a shoestring in 1989, and has built one of the most respected teams in Central and South Texas.
With a $2,500 deposit and a vision of creating a more client friendly construction company, David Bandy founded Bandy Constructors in 1989. Since then, he has built one of the most respected teams in Central and South Texas. As the company’s president, David still takes an active role in the success of every project. He directs the activities of Bandy’s management team and is always available to address the most pressing needs of the clients.
Before taking on Bandy Constructors’ inaugural project – a residential kitchen expansion in Austin – David worked on more than $67 million in public and institutional projects as a project engineer, project superintendent, and project manager for Warrior Construction from 1983 to 1989. During his time with Warrior, David served clients such as the State of Texas, Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University), and the University of Texas at Austin. His projects included the State Capitol Senate Renovations after the fire in 1983, the William B. Travis State Office Building, Harris Dining Hall and Blanco Dormitory at Texas State, and renovations to the Economics and E.P. Schoch Buildings on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in architectural engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He has served on the board of directors and as chairman of the Apprenticeship Committee of the Central Texas Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors. He has been active in Rotary Youth Exchange in central Texas and enjoys bow hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
Robert Harrell's Bio
Executive Vice President Robert Harrell provides overall administrative and technical management of all projects, ensuring that every project adheres to Bandy’s demanding quality standards and way of doing business.
Robert has been in the commercial construction industry since 1999. He is known for his dedication to completing projects at or under budget, addressing owner concerns and needs, and for his ability to work within very tight deadlines.
Robert began his tenure at Bandy as a project superintendent, and since then he has risen through the ranks to his current position as Executive Vice-President. In this capacity, Robert oversees all projects and project management teams. In his tenure with the company, he has been directly responsible for projects totaling more than $100 million, including individual projects valued at over $20 million.
Prior to joining Bandy in 2006, Robert worked for five years as an assistant superintendent and field engineer for Kunz Construction in San Antonio. He attended Texas State University in San Marcos, and holds numerous certifications related to construction methods and jobsite safety.
TOM BROOKS's Bio
With responsibility for the company’s human resources, benefits, accounting, and safety functions, Senior Vice President Tom Brooks keeps the operation running smoothly.
Tom joined Bandy Constructors in 2008. Prior to that, his career included time in the fields of human resources, banking, and investments. Tom’s human resources background includes eleven years with award-winning Priority Personnel in San Marcos. His 15 years of banking industry experience were primarily with State Bank and Trust (now Frost Bank).
Tom moved to San Marcos in 1971 to attend Texas State University and has been a resident of the community ever since. Tom is active in numerous civic and church organizations, and he and his family enjoy golf, hunting, and spending time on their ranch.

MARY SHUCKMAN's Bio
Mary’s philosophy in successful project delivery is a team-based approach utilizing the value of every member of the team to meet the challenges of each project.
Mary joined the company in 2018 as Senior Project Manager and brings to the table an extensive background of over 25 years in commercial construction with experience with many project types inclusive of the institutional, grocery, retail, restaurant, energy and light industrial/manufacturing fields.
Prior to coming on board with D.L. Bandy Constructors, Inc., she fulfilled numerous roles in the industry beginning as a project accountant, evolving into project management, operations and construction administration duties with project experience throughout the State of Texas, working for repeat clients including multiple school districts, Wal-Mart, Frost Bank, HEB, and LA Fitness, along with many other local, national and international clients, large and small.
Mary’s philosophy in successful project delivery is a team-based approach utilizing the value of every member of the team to meet the challenges of each project to deliver a quality product on time and within the budget to meet the goal of the end user. She strongly supports trade education and has participated in teaching and programs to encourage students to pursue these avenues as a career.
Mary attended Southwest Texas State University and has extensive industry related training and certifications. She enjoys kayaking, cycling and camping with her family as well as being an avid reader in her time outside of work.
SCOTT HILSTON's Bio
Scott Hilston is known for his commitment to meeting owners’ needs and expectations, and for his ability to address tight schedule demands by effectively managing subcontractors and suppliers.
Scott began his commercial construction career in 1989, when he graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture and went to work as project manager with Marmon Mok Architects in San Antonio.
Scott made the move to general contracting in 2000, and joined the Bandy team in 2015. As a project manager, he has been responsible for projects ranging in size from $3 million to $35 million. He has completed numerous projects for Northside ISD and San Antonio ISD, and four projects for the Southwest Research Institute, including three office buildings with a total value of more than $61 million.
