Scope Of Work
Built in 1941, Surry Mountain Dam is the oldest U.S. Army Corps of Engineers flood control dam in the Upper Connecticut River Basin and one of the oldest dams in New England.
The existing access road to the Surry Mountain Dam on the picturesque Ashuelot River and the roadway across the dam were in need of resurfacing.
Classic reclaimed and regraded 8,180 square yards of existing roadway and paved the roads with 1,830 tons of new asphalt. The guardrail along both sides of the road also needed replacing. To insure safe pedestrian and vehicular access, Classic installed more than 3,650 feet of new steel guardrail. The completion of these safety improvements also enhanced the beauty of this scenic area.
