Diane Weber's Bio
In 1988 after several years as an employee for different companies in construction and insulation, James and I decided to start our own company. We started out with a desk in the corner of our kitchen. James secured the work and I did all the books having worked in bookkeeping in the past. By 1992, we moved out of the kitchen into our new pole building and office. My commute has always been as far as a walk through the garage into the office in the pole building. We have engaged in all kinds of projects over the years, including home renovation, a building development, that we started from scratch, building 11 custom homes. Our main line of work always came back to weatherization/insulation work. James and I have worked together as a team both in the field and the office. We have maintained contracts with county government agencies providing weatherization/insulation to qualifying homes since our start up in 1988 and continuing today.
Today we focus primarily in the area of weatherization/insulation. We were one of the first to offer spray foam insulation in our area. We have now upgraded our equipment to serve larger projects with more efficiency yet maintain our business with local homeowners.
James Weber's Bio
In 1988 after working as a journeyman foreman for years in the construction industry and then in the weatherization/insulation industry through community action programs, I decided, along with my wife that it was time to start our own business.
With a government contract in hand from one of the agencies that I had worked for along with private sector work, two employees and a desk in the corner of our kitchen Progressive Energy was open for business.
A little factoid. I was the first person ever trained in the use and technique of the blower door in the state of Minnesota.
In 1992, we moved our business out of the kitchen, into a new pole building and office.
Diane and I developed land and built 11 custom homes in White Bear Lake. With my construction skills and my Diane's design skills, we were very successful in design, construction and scheme. We later built two more custom high end homes, but then the housing market crashed and we went back to weatherization and insulation.
We were one of the first contractors to offer spray foam insulation.
Today, we maintain our government contracts as well as the private sector.
We have just upgraded to a state of the art foam insulation rig and are ready to get on the road with it, expanding our field!
