Ben Bard's Bio
As Chief Operating Officer of The Beck Group, Ben oversees its operational performance and its regional leadership group.
He started at Beck 15 years ago when he joined as an assistant project manager. Ben worked his way up the ranks as operations manager of Beck’s Florida division, Regional Director of Atlanta, before subsequently becoming COO. His success at the firm is due to forging strong relationships, a robust work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver challenging projects on time and under budget.
Ben is a champion of his people. While in Atlanta, he used a multi-disciplinary approach to complete complex jobs while simultaneously growing his team. Doing this led to successful projects, expanding the office’s client list, and earning recognition for people and projects from multiple AEC organizations.
Outside of work, Ben, his wife Karla, and their kids, Brody and Lyla, are an active family who loves sports and spending time outdoors. New to Dallas, they look forward to becoming part of the North Texas community.
Brian Miller's Bio
Brian is passionate about elevating architecture and design for our clients and in our communities. As Chief Design Officer, he leads the design vision for our firm and the execution of plans, assuring design continuity and the highest quality standards on all Beck’s projects.
In his over 20 year career at Beck, Brian has designed some of our most notable projects. These include Hunt Oil Company Headquarters in Dallas, Duke University’s Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, Omni Barton Creek Resort and the 401 South First office tower in Austin.
Brian brings a deep understanding of technology and Beck’s integrated process to his role. He was a founding member of Studio I, Beck’s first integrated studio.
When he’s not at the office, Brian enjoys traveling to experience great architecture worldwide.
Bryce Morrow's Bio
As Chief Corporate Officer, Bryce leads the IT, Legal, Risk, Warehouse, and HR departments at Beck. Bryce collaborates with our project and technology teams to align systems to support business goals, and ultimately improve processes through the use of technology. Bryce joined Beck’s IT department in 2000 to support the project team for one of Beck’s largest telecommunications clients. Over the course of his career, he’s held a number of technology-focused roles both inside and outside the construction industry. Bryce rejoined Beck in 2015 to serve as the firm’s Chief Information Officer. What drew him to the role? “My role in IT has been spread across many departments and projects throughout my career. This helps me understand the opportunities and challenges for the business. It’s very satisfying to watch our processes come together with technology to achieve company goals.” Bryce is an active member of AECIT Leaders and Construction Information Executives. A family man, outside of work Bryce stays busy with the many schedule demands that come with raising young children.
Chad Schieber's Bio
Starting as a project engineer with Beck in 1997, Chad’s technical background helps him understand what it takes to put a project together. This understanding helps him explain the value of our services, ultimately better serving our customers. As Chief Marketing Office, Chad leads the marketing and sales strategy for the organization, including efforts for our strategic growth market expansion. Leading Beck’s National Marketing Council, Chad is also focused on implementing best practices for marketing, business development and sales company-wide.
Chad’s focus on others extends outside of the office, serving as a member of key boards and committees where his experience and skills can provide the most help for those organizations. Some of these include Camp Summit, a camp for kids and adults with special needs, The Real Estate Council (TREC) board of directors and as a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s HQ recruitment team. While a Dallas sports fan through-and-through, as an alum of the University of Missouri and a native of Kansas City, Chad still finds himself rooting for the Chiefs and Royals.
Drew Thigpen 's Bio
Drew oversees all design and construction in Fort Worth and West Texas. Drew joined Beck right out of school and worked his way up through the ranks. During his 40+ year career with Beck, he’s led some of our biggest and most complex projects, including RadioShack’s Corporate Headquarters, Sundance Square Plaza, the Piano Pavilion at the Kimbell Museum of Art and Grapevine Mills Mall. After working on numerous projects in Fort Worth, Drew was asked to open our local office. He says he jumped on the opportunity because “Fort Worth fits my personality – here it matters that you’re genuine and willing to prove yourself.” Known for his commitment to excellence and client service, Drew notes that “successful projects require understanding people’s wants and needs, knowing how to solve them and delivering on our promises.” Drew received his bachelor of science in business administration from Louisiana Tech University. Outside of work, Drew is an avid outdoorsman. Drew and his wife reside in Forney, Texas.
Fred Perpall's Bio
Fred is Beck’s Chief Executive Officer. Fred began his career in the design and construction industry in 1996 and has been a registered architect since 2003. His main focus is on driving firm strategy, communicating our vision to clients, selecting and developing our senior team, allocating capital and managing growth. He notes that “occasionally I still get to design, and this is fun for me too.” Known for his creative mind and innovative thinking, Fred brings a highly energetic and communicative style to his clients, projects and our Beck family. His leadership philosophy has been shaped during his tenure at Beck and through his experience in athletics, various ministries and civic organizations. “Early in my career as a designer, I learned to ask a lot of questions – to be interested, curious about what the clients want, open-minded, inquisitive, and sometimes amnesic with the past.” Fred’s known for his commitment to community involvement. He serves on numerous boards and executive committees, including the Dallas Regional Chamber, the Dallas Citizens Council and The Carter Center. Fred is a native of Nassau, Bahamas and a member of the 1994 Bahamian National basketball team. While he still hits the hardwood, he’s enjoying the challenge of the golf course. Fred and his family reside in Dallas.
Mark Collins's Bio
Mark is Beck’s Chief Financial Officer, responsible for management of the firm’s financial operations. With a background in public accounting, Mark has nearly 30 years of experience, the last 15 in the architecture and construction industry. He joined Beck in 1999 as controller and was promoted to CFO in 2007. Why Beck? “There are a lot of very, very good people here that make the job enjoyable.” Mark’s role touches several areas in the firm – accounting, treasury, financial planning, IT, captive insurance carrier, and the occasional legal or insurance-related issue – which means that every day offers variety. Mark adds that he has “autonomy and flexibility to deal with issues and solve problems.” Mark is involved in the community through board service with the YWCA and the Children’s Cancer Fund. In his off-hours, he enjoys reading and riding his motorcycle. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!) and the SMU Cox School of Business, he’s slowly becoming an Oklahoma State University fan to support his OSU student daughter.
