Mike started in construction in 1978 in California. Went to work with a large custom home builder as a laborer. That’s when he fell in love with construction. After a few years out in the field he know there was more. His next job came as an estimator for a large residential drywall company where he learned to bid and manage the work.

Later the company grew into the insulation business and he learned how to bid and manage the insulation part as well. In 1982 he took that knowledge and went to work for San Diego’s largest commercial drywall, metal studs and plaster company where got his first taste of exterior finishes from plaster to pre-cast panels and EFIS.

Learning the business and how a building went together was everything he wanted to do and be successful at. By 1988 he decided to apply for his Class-B General Contractor’s license for the state of California. In 1989 Mike was approached by a gentleman who wanted to start a tenant improvement commercial drywall company. So over the course of the next few years they grew the company and became one of San Diego’s premier commercial tenant improvement companies.

In about 1994 the San Diego market had hit a brick wall. It was time for a change.

Mike picked up his 3 kids & wife and move to Austin Texas.  He took his resume and knowledge and went looking for a company that could use his skills. He landed with one of Austin’s largest tenant improvement contractors. 

In 2002 Mike started DCI (Drolette Construction, Inc.)

Being a family man, he wanted to keep it simple so he could have  time to  go to every football, baseball and event for his kids. Growing the company got put on hold but the quality of the work never wavered. By 2011 all of the kids were in college and it was time to grow the business.

Currently Mike and his accomplished staff have grown the company to sales of $20,000,000 yearly. Since 2015 DCI has completed over 530 project worth $48Million to date.
