Cal began his career with First Alarm (later to become First Alarm Security & Patrol, Inc.) in 1987 as the first Security Manager. Since that time, Mr. Horton has led the company's expansion through strong leadership and innovative business strategies coupled with the advancement of professionalism within the security industry.
Cal is a board Certified Protection Professional (CCP), a member and past VP of the Monterey Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), a founding board member and past Northern California VP of the California Association of Licensed Security Agencies, Guards & Associates (CALSAGA), and past chair of the Certification Board for the CALSAGA Private Patrol Operator Certification Program.
Cal also served on the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services (BSIS) Bureau Chief's Advisory Committee as well as serving on different occasions as a both a BSIS and courtroom Security Subject Matter Expert.
Cal has published numerous articles in trade publications regarding security solutions and has written hundreds of operational security guidelines. He has an extensive background in public service, including law enforcement, emergency medical services, and emergency communications.
Cal holds an A.S. in Administration of Justice from Cabrillo College, is a graduate of Central Coast Counties Police Academy at Gavilan College/Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate, an Emergency Medical Technician certification and a Level III Homeland Security Certification.
