PROJECT OVERVIEW:
In recognition of the value of service animals, the San Antonio International installed two post security pet relief areas. Service animals such as Police K9, TSA service dogs or passenger companions now have a relief area in each terminal’s concourse, near the gates. The areas resemble a bathroom but have multiple drains on the floors, turf grass, an ornamental water hydrant, waste bags and a sink for handlers to wash afterwards. The area was specifically construed to meet the needs of pets and their owners and in accordance with the law issued to all U.S. airports.
