AKM Building Systems, Inc. is an Ohio Corporation originally established on July 19, 1983 as Ater & McAllister Contractors, Inc.  AKM Building Systems offers total construction services for commercial, community, and industrial applications as well as metal roofing services.  AKM Building Systems is a merit shop organization with quality personnel who continually strive to provide the best product value for our customers.

As a design-build general contractor we build partnerships with our customers as we design their projects and then we coordinate all phases of construction for their new facilities or renovation projects including permits, project management, job supervision, and on-site activities.  To insure the integrity of our work, we hire registered architects and engineers on a consulting basis for most projects.

AKM Building Systems’ customer base includes Adena Health Systems, Glatfelter, Crown Cork & Seal, Ohio Department of Transportation, Kenworth Truck Co., Big Sandy Superstores, and Ohio University-Chillicothe.  Our completed projects include educational, government, manufacturing, and medical facilities, condominium offices, retail businesses, restaurants, and warehouses.

On July 16, 1984, AKM Building Systems was appointed a “Butler Builder” by Butler Manufacturing Co., of Kansas City, MO.  As a Butler Builder, we offer the complete line of Butler pre-engineered steel building systems including: Widespan, Landmark 2000, Multi-Story, Hardwall, Self-Storage, Panl-line, Heavy Structures, Hybrid, Conventional, Classic II and Re-Roof. Please visit the Butler Building YouTube video sections.

In recognition of our excellent management practices and construction capabilities, on October 1, 1987, AKM Building Systems was designated a “Career Builder” by Butler Manufacturing Co.  Being a small part of Butler’s worldwide organization allows us to participate in informative meetings on a regular basis with similar construction companies from around the country
