Scope Of Work

Clark/Sullivan delivered a renovation to the C.K. McClatchy High School campus in an effort to expand its performing and fine arts curriculum.

The project scope included a historic renovation of the campus’s performing arts venue, which was originally constructed in 1937. As part of the renovation, the designed maintained many of the unique features of the original build, including stained glass windows, the vaulted ceiling structure and the metal caps at the ends of each row of audience chairs.

In addition to the stage and audience renovation, the C/S team also re-structured the backstage space to include:

A state-of-the-art band room, which features high-quality acoustical connections to the stage, allowing for orchestra interaction during performances (in place of an orchestra pit). The band room also serves as an additional performance location with room for several audience rows.

A dressing room for performers to get ready in.

A black box for smaller performances and practices.

The project also included renovations to allow for more space for many other art disciplines within the campus’s art curriculum. New classrooms included:

3D Art Studio

2D Art Studio

Digital Media Studio

Photography Studio

Ceramics Studio

Piano Lab
