Scope Of Work
Ki Mobility is a premier designer and well-known manufacturer of wheelchairs of all kinds, a true pioneer in lightweight collapsible wheelchairs. Ki’s first project was a 75,000-square-foot facility to meet their expanding manufacturing needs. Just 13 months later, Ki Mobility called upon Ellis again for an additional project to take their total footprint to 136,000 square feet.
Due to market dynamics, there was a need for the company to continue expanding their footprint to accommodate increased orders. It was important to facilitate a design-build schedule to accommodate the demand and move each of the projects forward.
Ellis Construction has now assisted the owners in building a facility four times the size of their first facility; this included assisting in finding a location and a layout which would allow for future growth. The office area was designed to be spacious where wheelchair accessibility was a crucial element of need. The flooring consists of uniquely finished and textured concrete and tile. The casework throughout the building was specially designed for any member of their workforce to access and utilize. In addition, exterior windows were placed to allow for additional natural light into the customer service and design departments, via specifically designed glass inserts strategically placed into interior walls.
