Our Story

General

 

Tilton and Associates, Inc., Nantucket Surveyors LLC, Shugrue Engineering, and AM Engineering are professional consulting firms specializing in land development, permitting, surveying, civil, and associated environmental engineering services in the Greater New England marketplace. Clients range from private, single-family, residential homeowners to national developers, retailers, owners, and multinational corporations. Projects range from house stake-outs, single-lot developments, septic/sanitary systems and retaining wall designs to large, multi-lot subdivisions, retail complexes, commercial properties, mixed-use developments and unique projects such as Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville, MA.

 

All clients, no matter how large or small, are always treated with the same level of exemplary quality of service, professionalism, and engineering excellence that are the hallmarks of the Tilton organization. At Tilton, we draw on the unmatched skill sets of diversified professional, technical and administrative staff including OSHA 10 and 40 Hr. staff members, Title 5 inspectors, soil evaluators, construction supervisors, environmental engineers, wetlands specialists, development planning specialists, licensed land surveyors, and licensed civil engineers.

About Us

History

 

1993 - Larry E. Tilton, PLS, founded Tilton and Associates, Inc. after operating S.M.R. Surveying and Engineering for fifteen years. Tilton and Associates is conveniently located in North Attleborough, MA and has successfully completed many complex engineering and surveying projects in the Greater New England area. Please see the projects page for more information. 

 

1997 - Mr. Tilton acquired AM Engineering, a consulting firm providing similar professional engineering services, located in Stratford, Connecticut. AM Engineering has a rich historyin Connecticut, having successfully completed many high-profile projects including Showcase

Cinemas in Manchester, CT; Sikorsky Warehouse; Assembly Facilities in Shelton, CT; and extensive work on the construction of the Connecticut Turnpike.

 

2005 -  Mr. Tilton acquired Nantucket Surveyors LLC and Shugrue Engineering, both prominent Nantucket surveying and civil engineering firms located “on-island” which have been serving Nantucket clients for over 30 years. By doing so, the Tilton team now has access to over 16,000 surveying and engineering files of Mr. Michael Bachman, the Schofield Brothers, Mr. John Shugrue and Mr. J.H. Robinson. In keeping with the tradition and culture of the original firm, Mr. Tilton and the Nantucket Surveyors team place a high priority on professionalism and the timely delivery of exceptional quality of service to all Nantucket residents.
