One of Dow’s favorite topics is his family: “I’ve been married to my wonderful wife, Cindy Taliaferro Smith, since 1989. We are so proud of our two sons, Harris and Mitchell. I am a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and we worship our Lord in the Methodist tradition.”

After earning a Bachelor of Science from Auburn University, Dow became a lifelong Tiger fan, and likes to say he “bleeds orange and blue.” He’s also a Bobcat from John Overton High School in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition, he loves his Smyrna High School Bulldogs.

Dow has worked his whole adult life in the industry, where he has overseen the construction of numerous projects in the church, medical, educational, retail and specialty sectors of commercial construction.

Joey oversees multiple commercial construction projects and is responsible for project estimating and preliminary services, retaining and managing subcontractors, material procurement and safety oversight.

Joey is experienced in ground-up projects, renovations, medical offices, churches, retail centers and managed over a million square feet of interior build-outs.

Joey currently serves as a small group leader and board member at his church. He is passionate about using his skills to glorify Christ on both religious and commercial projects. His career in the construction industry began in 2001, and since then has seen many successful projects go from the preliminary design stage to completion.

Joey is a resident of Rutherford County, and has been married to Christy Rhyne for more than ten years. The couple has three beautiful children. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a minor in Business Administration from Belmont University. He graduated from Hendersonville High School. The Rhyne family are members of LifePoint Church in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Dana began his construction career in 1972, working his way from a drywall mechanic to owner and manager of a successful drywall contracting business for more than 25 years. Dana brings many years of managing time, materials and manpower to Dow Smith Company, Inc.

He also has many personal interests including Numismatics (coin collecting), gun smithing, gardening and raising animals on a small farm in middle Tennessee. Dana also is an author of a book on coin collecting.

Dana and his wife, Sharon, have been married for 42 years. They love spending time together on the farm. Dana says, “There is nowhere I’d rather be than by Sharon’s side, holding her hand.”

The couple have three grown sons: Jon, Ryan and Alan, who also call middle Tennessee home, as well as two grandsons, Dustin and Chris.

Gary is responsible for field staff management, and retains and manages subcontractors, and handles material procurement and safety oversight.

Gary began his management career in the construction industry in Cookeville, Tennessee, as a General Manager before branching off and starting his own business. He brings many years of experience with him to DSCC.

Company President Dow Smith says, “Gary is a valuable and significant part of DSCC. His skills and gifts are enormous and a true blessing.”

Gary and his wife Vickie have been married for more than 32 years, and are blessed with a wonderful family that continues to grow. Their son, Christopher, has a son named Eli, and their daughter, Lindsay, is the mother of their oldest grandchild, Jordyn.

Shauna grew up in Lawrenceburg, TN. She graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She majored in Economics with a concentration in Finance.

She has lived in Smyrna for many years and has worked in the construction industry since 2000. Before joining Dow Smith Company in 2012, she worked with Looney Ricks Kiss Architects and Knestrick Contractor in Nashville.

Shauna and her husband, Tony have three children–Emma, Jessica and Andrew. “I love watching Emma play softball and spend most weekends at the ballpark since travel ball is all year,” she said.
