Glen/Mar and I grew up together. As a family business, I grew up
seeing that taking the right risks makes all the difference in life
and in business. My dad, Glen, was an excellent role model of valuing
family, employees, customers, and your own integrity. He instilled in
me that when you invest in yourself and you invest in others, you
build a business that lasts. And when you choose to play fairly, you
compete against yourself, not others. These key concepts play out
daily in Glen/Mar's business practices.
I joined Glen/Mar Construction after college in 1999 as a
general laborer, and grew in skills as Glen/Mar grew. As Project
Manager I oversaw our earliest Federal contracts. One of my largest,
Glen/Mar’s largest at that time, was the Willamette National Cemetery
Expansion that completed in 2008. As Director of Operations, I brought
on our team of Project Managers and Superintendents as Glen/Mar grew
both geographically and in revenue. When my father, Glen, passed away
suddenly and unexpectedly in 2010, I stepped up as Vice-President to
handle the contract negotiation and administration, business
development and financial management of the company.
Dad passed away due to injuries sustained in the line of duty
in Vietnam. As a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business and
Dad's legacy, I am personally invested in supporting those that serve
in our military and am proud of the work that we provide for both our
Public and Private customers.
