Scope Of Work
MW Builders is the general contractor for a new AC Hotel by Marriott in Santa Rosa, CA in the center of California’s Wine Country. To overcome a severe labor shortage, the hotel was built using a combination of field-built and modular construction.
The 20,000-SF first floor of the hotel is field-built and includes a check-in lobby, meeting space, breakfast area, and valet parking garage. A post-tensioned concrete podium over the first floor supports four levels and 54,000 SF of wood-frame modular units. Hotel units are pre-built at a modular plant in Boise, ID where all finishes are pre-installed, furniture loaded into the units and strapped to the floor. The units are wrapped in protective fabric, trucked to Santa Rosa, and stacked similar to Lego blocks. Then, MW Builders connects the utilities, install façade, seam the roof, put in elevators, and complete exterior landscaping.
This AC Marriott will be one of the first hotels built in the city since the devastating wildfires that hit the Santa Rosa area in October 2017.
