Scope Of Work
Smoot Construction provided preconstruction and construction services for the renovation of historic Copley Hall. Located on Georgetown’s main quad, the 100,000 square-foot building is home to more than 300 students and auxiliary academic facilities.
The scope of our preconstruction efforts included preparing multiple estimates, performing value engineering and constructability analyses, and logistical planning for an extensive renovation project on this crowded urban campus. We also provided life cycle analyses of the building’s electrical/mechanical system.
The extent of the interior renovation included refurbishing the walls and installing new wood flooring, carpeting, doors and trim. Exterior construction included roof replacement and restoration of the granite walls and decorative elements. We also replaced the building’s mechanical system with a four pipe fan coil system, installed a new sprinkler system and replaced the electrical distribution system. High speed telecommunication wiring was also installed throughout the building.
