Scope Of Work

C.M. Peletz Co.’s president, David Markham, acted as Owner’s Representative/Construction Manager on this one-of-a-kind project for a Bay Area client desiring to keep local controls on a very special new mountain home.

The Glacier House is a residence for a family of four in an extraordinary mountain setting. It is located at the boulder-strewn mouth of a glacially shaped “hanging” valley in the mountains.

Markham was responsible for managing all aspects of planning, architecture, contracting and legal for this schedule-driven, technically-extreme two-year project.

While client confidentiality and schedule were paramount, budget and team management were also critical. Leadership as well as timely, yet calculated decision making ability is what Markham afforded the client. “Being asked to perform a service of this magnitude for a fantastic client speaks highly of the work we do at C.M. Peletz Co.,” says Markham.

Building challenges and highlights of the remote site included winter (and I mean deep snow) construction, an all-zinc exterior, tunneling, state-of-the-art HVAC, electrical, hydronic and AV systems, an outdoor infinity edge pool, inclusion of existing boulders into the structure, sandblasted granite floors, a bridge and lots of mountain roads.
