Scope Of Work
Located on 34 acres of land in the Galatyn Park area of Richardson, and comprised of architectural precast, glazed aluminum wall systems and natural stone, this facility consolidated multiple Dallas-area locations into one convenient campus. The campus serves as the headquarters for BCBSTX and includes office space, a full-service kitchen and servery, as well as indoor and outdoor dining areas. The headquarters provides space for roughly 4,000 BCBSTX employees, about 1,500 more than at its former location.
The 1,050,000 sf headquarters is LEED Silver certified and includes 15-story and 7-story office towers with a 3,600-car parking structure. Challenged with an aggressive schedule, McCarthy implemented fast-track construction methods in an effort to complete this substantial project in only 21 months. Some of these methods included the early award of critical work packages, assigning staff to specific structures, and aggressive planning and scheduling strategies with the involvement of McCarthy’s team of subcontractors.
The construction of this new campus allowed BCBSTX to bring their work force together in the same facility in order to enhance communications, productivity, and efficiency.
