Scope Of Work
Our team is proud of its ongoing relationship with the Chester County Hospital. In 2014 our team completed the Lasko Tower and, later, an orthopedic unit and a pediatric unit renovation.
Now under construction, this expansion is the largest in Chester County Hospital’s 125-year history. The 250,000 sf expansion and 26,000 sf renovation includes:
A new main entrance with a pharmacy, cafe, gift shop, and conference room
New garden-style courtyards as well as a green roof over the OR procedural platform
New operating room platform with 15 rooms, including state-of-the-art operating rooms, cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs as well as and an interventional hybrid OR
Doubling the size of the emergency department and adding 10 additional emergency department rooms that will have doors and walls, not curtains, separating beds.
New areas for non-invasive cardiology and pre-admission testing
99-bed private-room inpatient tower which includes 24 new ICU beds
Renovation of existing 7,950 sf NICU
To facilitate construction of the new tower, the expansion team started by upgrading the historic South Entrance to Chester County Hospital’s campus, allowing the main entrance to be closed. Phasing and construction have been carefully coordinated with the medical staff to minimize disruption to hospital operations.
The team’s infection control (ICRA) measures include disinfection and wall closure techniques mitigate future issues after the walls are closed. Interim life safety measures (ILSM) including dust and vibration control are being taken throughout the process to ensure that the hospital operates safely while new spaces are being built. Extensive quality control measures ensure the building’s exterior envelope does not allow outside air or moisture into the building. Our team prides itself on being an integrated member of Chester County’s community, and that alignment informs everything from specific construction decisions to our team’s communication with medical staff.
