Barneys New York selected NorthPark Center in Dallas for a Texas flagship store. The 90,000sf space spans two levels and was gutted and built back with wool carpets, custom elevators, intricate ceiling details, and a unique blackened steel rail stair finished with rough-cut oak wood treads. A large amount of custom millwork and fixtures, including in-store kiosks, wrap-around cosmetic casework, specialty millwork and cash wraps, were installed. New infrastructure systems were installed as well as 30 inch steel beams for the upper floor. The store exterior was designed by renowned artist John-Paul Phillippe and includes a cantilevered steel awning that pops in Barneys “red,” with sculptural steel and glass for the stores dramatic 30ft x 35ft entrance. The store is an interior showplace winning several awards including:

Preconstruction

Barneys New York required many custom-made and imported items which made preconstruction particularly important. The store contains 12 departments with their own unique design and fixtures. The flooring differed in each department from rich end-grain oak to limestone floor tiles with mosaic inserts. Our staff worked closely with the design and ownership teams to provide budget information, constructability details and life cycle cost analysis for selected materials on schedule sequencing. This detailed preconstruction coordination aided in maintaining the construction schedule.
