G.E.I. was founded in 1986 by Dave Gutelius who remains actively involved with the day to day operations over 30 years later.  Today, the company, located in the Heartland of Pennsylvania, has grown to over 90 employees.

We have a team of highly skilled project managers, superintendents, foremen, equipment operators, surveyors, truck drivers, and diesel mechanics on our staff. These professionals embrace challenging and complex projects every day, and ensure that each project is done right the first time. Gutelius Excavating’s size also enables us to handle large projects, which many smaller operations cannot.

Our team excels in large and multi-phased site work projects, utilities projects, and grading and paving projects.  This extensive in-house capability enables us to better control the project quality and schedule plus individual construction crews are carefully selected for each project.  Our teams of skilled professionals utilize a fleet of modern equipment that is maintained by our experienced in-house mechanics.

We treat each project like it’s our only project – ensuring that each client’s needs and expectations are met. Our project managers only manage a small set of projects so they can provide focused, consistent leadership, ensuring each project, whether it’s residential or commercial, will be completed on time and within budget.  Through aggressive, controlled growth, Dave Gutelius Excavating, Inc. has matured to become one of the most accomplished and experienced general contractors in the area.
