Brent Cooper's Bio
Brent is also a third generation AROK owner, starting as a part-time laborer while attending school before transitioning to a full-time career at AROK’s Seattle location. Brent has climbed the rungs – his experience includes work as an apprentice, journeyman, welder, estimator and eventually partner at AROK. Brent understands that the company’s success is a direct result of loyal employees who feel valued and respected. In 2011, Brent and his brother, Brian, were named two of Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) top 25 professionals under 40. Brent is a member of the Arizona Builders Alliance, the Men’s Art Council and the Peoria Diamond Club. In his free time, he enjoys coaching his daughter’s soccer teams.
Brian Cooper's Bio
Brian is a third generation AROK owner. Starting out as an apprentice and laborer, his 25 years of first-hand experience in vertical construction come from having worked in every position at the company, which was led by his father, James Cooper, until his passing from cancer in 2007. “My grandfather and father inspired me, taught me that treating people with respect is mandatory, and that you can still do business with a handshake,” he says. Brian and his partners aggressively pursue projects that assist in the fight against cancer.
As an active member of the industry, Brian has been the president of the Arizona Chapter of the American Subcontractor Association, has been on the American Subcontractor Association national board of directors, was recognized as an Honorary Commander at Luke Air Force Base (LUF) from 2014 to 2016, and participates as a member of the Blue Blazer Squadron-Charlie Class at LUF. In his commitment to the community, Brian volunteers for St. Vincent De Paul and Homeward Bound Habitat for Humanity.
Scott Maki's Bio
In 2014, Scott became an owner and partner of AROK, where coincidentally, he held his first carpenter apprenticeship nearly three decades prior while studying architectural drafting, business and accounting. Throughout his career, Scott rose through the ranks as an estimator, project manager, general manager, division manager and president. He has experience growing and operating one of the largest subcontracting companies in the Southwest, and expanded the company’s revenue twentyfold during his 18-year tenure.
Scott is a firm believer in supporting his industry and community. He has served as treasurer of the ASA of Greater Phoenix, as a member of the Rap Council ASA National and as a member of ASA Risk Transfer Task Force. In addition, he has participated with the Building Leaders Development Group, on the U.S. Bank Arizona Market Advisory Board and as the Director of the Restorative Justice Resources Coalition. He has been a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization, the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industry and the JOY High School Design Committee. Scott has also been a guest speaker at the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University, presenting on the estimating drywall, plaster and painting systems.
