Our Story

The same year AROK opened for business, it was awarded with its first major Arizona contract, the Metrocenter Mall. The mall was a difficult project that allowed AROK to disprove beleifs that it was impossible for a small newcomer to achieve success on a development of such magnitude.  “With the help of a lot of good people doing a lot of hard work, it was successfully completed in record time,” said Scott Maki, one of three current owners of AROK.  When the mall opened in Oct. 1973, it was the first two-level, five-anchor mall in the US, and was the largest shopping center in Arizona.

The accolades that AROK received for their work on the Metrocenter Mall, at the time, earned the company a reputation for seamless coordination, quality service, high performance and strong relationships, which still ring true today and are the foundation of AROK’s success.

AROK prides itself on the fact that a large majority of their business is comprised of repeat clients. “We accomplish nothing, no matter how well a job goes, if our customer does not want us back for their next project,” says Maki. “Our experience has taught us to work hard, have courageous integrity, to help others and to never forget to enjoy the ride.”
